Deep amber color with a thick white, durable head. Initial nose is that of ripe dark fruit, molases and caramel. Silky smooth palate which is dominated by the malts. Some mild banana esters make their appearance, but palate is one of dark fruit, spice and sweet molasses. Alcohol cuts down the sweetness a bit to prevent it from being cloying. A real classsy brew!! krisbierjaeger (844), dolores, Colorado, USA

Korbinian pours beer bottle brown with a medium head. It smells like molasses. It has a great smooth silky taste and a warm, semi-sweet not-quite-chocolate finish. An excellent alternative to Celebrator Doppelbock. iwantalambic (1389), St. Louis, Missouri, USA

Full malty aroma with plenty of hazelnuts, milk chocolate and banana. Fairly thick mouth feel that is clean and full of flavour. Luscious chocolate, a hint of campfire smoke, wood and a plethora of nuts. A hint of cascade hops evident in the finish, though not much. Overall a beer I would drink very often. mkobes (2104), paramus, New Jersey, USA

| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | May 24, 2008 Dark mahogany beer, with a soapy off-white head - lovely, complex nose of sweet malts, caramel, chocolate, rum-soaked raisins, plum, a slightly roasty, almost smoky character - nice and creamy in the mouth - starts out with some roasted malt character, and loads of toffee - a hint of treacle-ish sweetness is tempered well by the roasty character - strong raisin and fig flavor, brown sugar, buttered toast - chocolate, coffee, very light smoke - ends with a mild acidity that cleanses the sweetness from the palate - this is extremely well made. Molasses come out right away in the fore then come raisin, malt and alcohol. There is warming quality from the alcohol which makes you feel as if you have dipped your tongue into a cherry infused Navy rum. Very enjoyable drink marred only by a slightly too aggressive alcohol flavor.
