This is a strong rich good bock. Dark orangish brown with a creamy tan head. Aroma of alcohol, fruitcake, malt and caramel. Rich palate that is all at once sugary, chocolaty, roasted but then it peters out just a bit at the end. Loved it but probably not the best of the style. Mild toasty aroma with some hop spice. Flavor is roasty, mildly nutty and has a nice chocolate taste. Really outstanding. Probiere (992), Iowa, USA

A plethora of rounded malt flavors--raisins, figs, honey buns, biscuits, molasses, maple, toast, honeysuckle, caramel, peanuts--they are getting some beautiful things out of whatever malts they’re using. Mouthfeel heavy, round, and soft without being cloying or too stick. I aged this bottle for well over a year and did not notice any undue alcohol notes as others have. guzzler67 (1283), Hanover, Maryland, USA

Roasted caramel and chocolate malt aroma accented with dark fruit. Very smooth, full-bodied mouthfeel. Complex, fruity taste with hints of molassas and black bread. One little harsh note at the very end of the finish. Kinz (2207), Glen Allen, Virginia, USA

Flavors of pumpernickel, a touch of toffee, surprisingly dry finish. Never would have picked this for a doppelbock, as I actually enjoyed the beer. ivan9856 (129), Arlington, Virginia, USA

Upfront, there is a broad malty aroma with hints of molasses, fresh baked bread and alcohol. The honey sweet palate entry supplies a rich, creamy mouthfeel. Mid-palate features caramel, coffee, raisin and ripe banana. The first-rate low hop finish is decidedly smooth but manages to counterbalance the robust malt body; there is a touch of alcohol. This beer is a deep dark amber color, it shows fairly clear when held up to the light. This beer is just wonderfully malty. Lots of caramelized malt taste, as well as a bit of chocolate. There is a certain fruitiness here that is more from the malt presence than any yeast character. This is a nice clean lager that really lets the malt character shine through.
