This beer is a deep dark amber color, it shows fairly clear when held up to the light. This beer is just wonderfully malty. Lots of caramelized malt taste, as well as a bit of chocolate. There is a certain fruitiness here that is more from the malt presence than any yeast character. This is a nice clean lager that really lets the malt character shine through. Beautiful dark brown color, smells like malty goodness. Tastes like malty goodness. Really nice darker-malty lager from the world’s oldest brewery. You can tell they have the most practice. Awesome brew. jasonp (1514), Sterling/Dulles, Virginia, USA

Smoke, peat, candy-like sweetness and a hint of grass in the nose. Very bold and malty with notes of caramel, dark cherry, plum, raisin, sweet toffee, peat, brown sugar, molasses and a hint of chocolate. Pleasantly sweet with just enough hops for balance. Medium bodied with a creamy texture and moderate carbonation. Decent head retention. Overall, great beer. jde123 (715), Washington, Washington DC, USA

Pours a dark brown with small white head, aroma is terrific, perhaps one of the better ones out there. Flavor was pleasant, although kind of one-dimensional. Loads of alcohol hidden in this one. More than one would think. Overall i enjoyed it. yesyouam (611), Fairport, New York, USA

Fresh sweet clean malt dominates the aroma. There are notes of bread and possibly raisins. It has a smooth medium body and a silky finish. It is lightly sweet and wooden in flavor. There are tastes of brown sugar, dark bread and resiny hops. It’s all soft and smooth. BDR (2170), Roseville, Minnesota, USA
