Ordered at brewery, it was my biggest surprise of my trip. anothstine (2), Orlando, Florida, USA does not count | 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Sep 22, 2006 Deep, dark brown pour, wonderful sweet aroma. Good god, that has got to be be richest, maltiest smelling brew I’ve had in awhile. Big, rich malts with thick gourmet caramel. Loads of brown sugar and a big dallop of black strap molasses. Dates and figs are here, also. Slight hint of tobacco. Slight yeasty, breadlike notes.
Big molasses presence, tastewise. Sweet, yet dark and dry. Nice level of maltiness makes it’s presence known. Very slight alcohol presence. Like the nose, you get a taste of tobacco. Caramel apples. Nice taste of black bread. Notes of dates and cherries.
Sadly, this is only a medium bodied beer. A nice, big, full body would make this one an extremely lush brew. Carbonation is a bit too crisp and therefore, short. Would benefit from smoother carbonation, as it would help it be so much more creamy.
Very drinkable, in general. The rich sweetness would keep you from throwing too many back in a single sitting, though.
I want more of this one.

| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 2/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Sep 12, 2001 This beer has one of the best aroma I’ve run across - caramel, toffee, maple and a hint of chocolate. The first sip was almost as complex. Lots of depth and body. The 7.4% alcohol punch hides in the spicy finish. wheatbeerboy (100), Addison, Illinois, USA

This is right up there with Ayinger's Celebrator Doppelbock. llcooldave (319), San Antonio, Texas, USA

Beautifully complex flavor: bready & nutty with a touch of dried fruit thrown in. Normally I’m not a bit fan of the dried fruit flavor but this has a slight bitter dryness that really balances out the sweetness. Korbinian is a practically a perfect beer. Pershing (147), Garland, Texas, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Aug 20, 2008 Dark brown with a malty aroma. Full bodied and moderalty sweet with a nice lingering finish left me wanting more. One of the best Dopplebocks I’ve had in a while. I realized this was a great beer when half was gone in just a few moments.
