There was a slight hint of a metallic taste in the first sip, but that quickly dissipated. Left practically no aftertaste, surprisingly for such a strong beer. Delbomber (387), Philadelphia, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Sep 22, 2001 Tastes like 80% bock, 20% wheat. This is listed as a weizenbock, however the style on this site seems much more appropriate. Strong roasted caramel and plum aroma, with heavy plums, figs, prunes, and dates flavors and a fruity banana/apple finish. Develops a scotch-ale character as it warms, making this a unique, albeit slightly underachieving brew from my favorite brewery. JohnC (2285), Mission Viejo, California, USA

Aroma and flavors are malty, sugary, sweet, with some fig and raisin fruitiness. Bitter finish baloances out the sweetness. MadMan (497), Tempe, Arizona, USA

I am bad with color, but this one is cola dark.Aroma of caramel and roastiness. Flavor of caramel and malt and finishes sweet with slight bitterness. Overall a very malty sweet and drinkable beer that hides the alcohol very well. I may need more lessons in the ways of dopplebock. tomseaman (35), Alpine, California, USA

Great smell, good head, wonderful, germanic finish. Not the best double bock I've had, but in the top ten. whaleman (2171), North Wales, Pennsylvania, USA

Interesting warm caramel, roasted marshmallow, and dark bread crust aromas. Chocolate, caramel, and mild dark fruit flavors with medium high malty sweetness. Initial fizziness subsides and leaves a smooth, creamy texture. A good, tasty doppelbock from a proven brewery.
