500ml bottle only thing resembling a date is a code on the back lable:0054. Pours like Dr. Pepper, audible fizzing, foamy off-white head, and like Dr. Pepper, the head dies quick. Deep brown color. Smells of raisins, maybe figs, and some dusty carmelly malt. Full bodied. This glides down very easily, and has some nice bitterness in the finish to achieve balance. I’m left with hops lingering instead of sweetness, which I like. Melanoidinal(if that’s a word)l and some chocolate in the flavor, along with more dark fruits. I like this beer. Its big, drinks clean & balanced, fairly complex yet welcoming.

Bottle. Pours caramel nut brown with a small foamy/creamy light brown head and some light lined lacing. Yeast (barn, dough) and wheat lightly roasted malt (straw) aroma with hints of grape and German noble hops. Sweet malt caramel wheat and warming flavor with low acidity and well balanced malt hop combination that finishes a touch creamy with very little aftertaste. Medium to dark full bodied palate that is warming and somewhat carbonated, yet easy on the tongue.

Rich ruby brown body with a frothy tan head. Loved the sweet cinnamon raisin bread aromas and caramel malt flavours. Notes of chocolate now and then but mostly brown sugar and malt. A little thin perhaps but a nice lingering finish. Solid.

Strong smoky, clove aroma - perfect for this style. Yes, it’s a doppelbock, but there’s the "dunkel" gene in this one and those aromas come shining through. Malty flavor on the front of the palate and smoky flavor (with that touch of bitterness) on the back of the palate. Very pleasant beer with some balance. Weihenstephaner does it again - they always deliver excellent brews.

500ml bottle from Binny’s in Orland Park. Pours dark brown with thick tan head. Aroma is rich with malt, caramel, toffee, and dark fruits. Flavor is malty with the sweetness of toffee, caramel, brown sugar and some dark fruits. Nice mouthfeel. Very solid dopplebock.

500ml bottle (Cracked Kettle, Amsterdam) - shared with mirjukka - thanks!
Deep red, slightly hazy, no head. Heavy sweet malty aroma. Massively malty bready sweet palate. Some biting sharp hops. Mellows to green buds. Covers 7.2% well. Big, bold, and beautiful. More please :-)

Pours dark brown with temporary foamy tan head. Sweet malt aroma. Creamy initial flavor, very malty...great taste. As doppelbocks go, this is a top ten.
