The nose is dark fruit, toffee, maple and a few I just can’t seem to grasp. The flavor is well balanced and I would to try this again. portermax55 (118), Canterbury, Connecticut, USA

Heavy aromas of roasted malts, molasses, and some hints of campfire smoke. Flavor is of malts, some spice, and caramel with a sweet, nutty finish. Mouthfeel is soft and smooth, and the 7.4% is hidden very well. Great brew. Perm (151), Tryon, North Carolina, USA

Appearance: Dark brown, looks suspiciously like Coca-Cola in my pilsener glass.
Aroma: A tad (but just a tad) on the weak side in my book. Nicely malty and caramelly.
Taste: Very nice! Raisins, caramel, a subtle but solid Noble Hop presence, nutty and toasty. I gave it a 8.5, which is not an option on the RB scale.
Palate: Spritzy.
Overall: It’s no Curator or Celebrator to be sure, but for the price (much cheaper than either of those!) it can’t be beat.
I used it in the preparation of Doppelbock-Thai pork balls served with a spicy peanut sauce, with snap peas and rice noodles. A glass of it along with the meal was a divine pairing. This would be good with an array of desserts as well. gam (1103), brisbane, Australia

A very nice dark coloration, but the aroma is lacking. Flavor is nice and full, but lacking in real character. Overall, good, but not great. blutt59 (2144), Dallas, Texas, USA

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jun 2, 2009 Pours a dark brown with a moderate tan head; decent retention and lacing. Aromia is sweet malts, is per the style. Flavor is equally sweet and malty, with caramel and clover honey. The sweetness is balanced just a bit by some coffee bitterness. Thick, full mouthfeel that is still very smooth. A very nice example of a dobbelbock.
