Soft and very creamy texture -- nice! Malts were fairly sweet, a little roasty, woodsy, damp and earthy. Hops were a little fruity (dried apricots), herbal, and grassy, with a healthy amount of bitterness that easily kept up with the big malts. Good beer. dolemike1 (1129), Jeannette, Pennsylvania, USA

Smoky and burnt flavor, intermixed with sweet malt. Quite excellent. Very appealing except the large amount of debris at the bottom of the bottle, which left me puzzled. Oh well, still good. Deep brown color with a sweet toasted malt aroma. Flavor the same. A nice thick chewy bock. It’s great that there is no hops bite in this. Just goodness. Enjoyable DerBiermann (18), Sofia, Bulgaria

Aroma is full of dark fruit and sweet malt. Flavor is similar with some toffee, and yeast. It is a fairly complex flavor and is delicious. Great feel, too. BillKismet (1944), Seattle, Washington, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Aug 27, 2008 Gorgeous chestnust color though with a faded head. Pleasantly intense malt ball aroma and dusted malt, exquisitely well-rounded. Med-um-body that is slightly watery for a doppelbock, but posses a flavorful malty component, again of malt balls and some bitter-sourness on the finish. A solid example of the style. Perhaps some smoked Rauch malt is used as well. TheDean (785), MIlwaukee, Wisconsin, USA
