Commercial Description:
A double bock beer that has what it takes. Not just for lovers of strong beer. With a malty aroma and great taste, our Korbinian is a true beer speciality. It goes well with smoked meat and fish as well as wild roasts and fowl.

Bottled. Dark copper color. Sweet aromas of prunes and toffee. Flavor is a bit sweet as well with notes of prunes, caramel, tobacco and a bit of alcohol.

Dark rubyred, creamy head. Aroma is very malty, sweet. Taste contains largely the same, combined with dark fruits (prunes and raisins). Finish is warming, slightly alcoholic. Another great Doppelbock.

This brewery/university is, to me, an absolute treasure to the German people, and this one gives homage to it’s fine brewing history. Poured into a Weihenstephaner Weiss glass, the body glistened a brilliant deep ruby brown. Small effervescent bubbles raced to the top to form a dense, inch thick, sandy head, that stuck firmly to the glass all the way down. An initial musty, cobweb aroma preceded wafts of cocoa, cinnamon, sweet malt and a little caramel. Mouth feel was excellent, rich rounded flavours of sweet caramelised sugars, coffee grains and husky burnt malt, dominated the palate. Medium bodied, medium-light carbonation, extremely well-balanced with a pleasant warming, malt finish. Not in your face, like many Doppelbocks, but quaffable and well crafted.

Pours brown with a thin off white head, Smells of figs, sugar, nuts, yogurt, some raisins. Tastes of malt with some nice fruit and nut profiles.

Nearly black with a red tint. Has a great head that lasts till the bottom, great lacing all the way down too. Aroma dominated by malt notes such as toffee and caramel. Some slight dark fruits and something which resembles soy sauce on the nose too. The flavour is also dominated by dark malts and some fruits. There were only very slight hops notes in the finish but there was also some spice. Very rich and thick in the mouth. alcohol was detectable but pleasant.

Aroma is rich and malty with a sweet but not cloying undertone rather like cinnamon rolls. It pours a very appetizing semi-translucent mahogany with a fairly thick and somewhat persistent pale tan head. Aroma is malty with just a bit of hop bitterness and a hint of spice, mainly cinnamon, plus just a touch of fruit. Texture is tingly, fizzy and lively, downright lip-smacking.
