Bottle. Dark brown with garnet highlights when held to the light. Small off-white head with some lacing of glass. strong aroma of roasted malt. Good, almost smokey flavor of malt and raisin that does a good job of hiding the alcohol. An excellent doppelbock.

Pint bottle poured into my trusty stein- poured semi transparent light black, brown head laced away, aroma of sweetened dark molasses, caramel, and malt. Hits the mouth with a medium body, some smoke quality to it in the middle intertwined with sweetness, heavy roasted malt notes on backend. Knew I should have bought more than one bottle...

Chocolate-mahogany color with a thin light-tan head. Aroma is roasty grains, slight molasses, toffee, plums and dark cherries. Flavor is a beautiful rich bounty of chewy dried dark fruits, bits of toffee, chocolate - reminds me of some of the finer dark "sipping rums" I have enjoyed. Finish is fairly crisp for such a mouthful of flavors, but does leave some lingering roasty grains and hints of coffee. Wonderful doppelbock from teh "world’s oldest brewery."

What a great dopplebock. True to style other than I couldn’t get the ‘strong malty aroma’. Very smooth for a big beer and enjoyed the complex taste. Not something to have ten of rather one to savour. Definitely a style I will try other examples of and one to try and brew.

Nice beer. I love doppelbocks too though. If you love doppelbocks, then find this one, or ask me, I can get it for you. I would be happy to trade. Reminds me of coffee. Very nice feel on the palate, very pleasant. Little carbonation and a dark color like it should. Nice.

Bottle. Chocolate brown color, smoky and malty aroma. Flavor is roasted malt with a hint of raisin. Very smooth palate and excellent flavor hides high alcohol content. One of the better Doppelbocks widely available.

Dark gold honey color. Amazing molasses aroma, full body, flavor that lasts. It’s a great beer that you would actually want to drink a LOT of!!

Bottle into stein. Pours a clear, dark brown, with hints of mahogany around the edges, and a small, fluffy khaki head on top that lingers. Bit of effervescence visible as well. Nose is restrained but delicious - molasses, bread crust, a bit bready, toffee. Taste is delicious - molasses, hints of dark fruit and brown sugar, a light roasty note hinting at dark breadcrust but with no acidity at all - rich and bready, sweet but balanced. Finish is long, hints of bitterness, reminiscent of rye bread and molasses. Mouthfeel is almost perfect - smooth but with a light, fluffy carbonation that is close to flawless. Superb beer.
