yesyouam (366), Fairport, New York, USA Jul 8, 2008 Weihenstephaner Korbinian is a solid, crystal clear, brown-red beer with an oily, bubbly, beige head. Fresh sweet clean malt dominates the aroma. There are notes of bread and possibly raisins. It has a smooth medium body and a silky finish. It is lightly sweet and wooden in flavor. There are tastes of brown sugar, dark bread and resiny hops. It’s all soft and smooth.
masonjer (449), Holt, Michigan, USA Oct 5, 2008 pours a murky brown with a cream head. Aroma is caramel and raisins. Taste Is more dark fruit, chocolate, vanilla and a nice bitterness on the end to cut some of the sweetness. Not a huge dopplebock fan but this is one of the best I’ve had. carruthm (430), Seattle, Washington, USA Oct 3, 2008 On tap at tap house in Seattle
V - dark brownish black with little head
A - coffee and lite chocolate porter aromas
T - nice coffee balanced with malts Glouglouburp (1997), Montreal, Quebec, Canada Oct 3, 2008 In short: An overly sweet and slightly fruity big bock
How: Bottle, consumed fresh a few days after purchase
The look: Very dark ruby body topped by a beige ring of foam
In long: Crisp molasses (and lots of it), raisins, toffee, some black liquorice, some tobacco. Somewhat sticky. Starts off ok but syrupy sweet and by the end of the bottle I was sick of it. Might please those with a sweet teeth. But I must admit not being a big fan of Doppelbocks, I’ve never been to a Doppelbock game cheering “Go Doppelbocks Go!”. Palidor19 (1310), Brandon, Florida, USA Oct 1, 2008 nice and rich, with lots of caramel and a mild amount of hops, it oozes substance with lots of room left over in the after taste. a great beer to add to your collection. IDunno19 (32), Ames, Iowa, USA Sep 28, 2008 Maybe it was a poor decision to try the Ayinger Celebrator and then try this. 94% really? Aroma of malt and hops with chocolate eclipsed by the smell of something missing. Taste is full and typical of a good German Doppelbock but I couldn’t help but notice the thinness of the flavor. Overall, not terribly overwhelmed. Great mocha chocolate color with deep amber head.
