Ansset13 (121), Wilmington, North Carolina, USA Feb 1, 2008 The pour is nearly black with a small tan head. The nose is dark fruit, toffee, maple and a few I just can’t seem to grasp. The flavor is well balanced and I would to try this again.
BillKismet (1401), Seattle, Washington, USA Aug 27, 2008 Gorgeous chestnust color though with a faded head. Pleasantly intense malt ball aroma and dusted malt, exquisitely well-rounded. Med-um-body that is slightly watery for a doppelbock, but posses a flavorful malty component, again of malt balls and some bitter-sourness on the finish. A solid example of the style. Perhaps some smoked Rauch malt is used as well. Indulgence (70), Ajo, Arizona, USA Aug 23, 2008 Poured a deep, opaque dark brown to light black thickness with a 1 finger head, the head eventually settled into a slick of foam that coalesced around the shoulders; no lacing adhered during the tasting; nose of banana, clove, ginger, malt, toffee and molasses, complex, Flavors of the nose w/ the complexity seemed to strike a more even balance in the mouth. Mouthfeel was light considering the bold nose and flavors. Not much carbonation present and alcohol was very well-hidden. Definately worth a try. Pershing (68), Garland, Texas, USA Aug 20, 2008 Dark brown with a malty aroma. Full bodied and moderalty sweet with a nice lingering finish left me wanting more. One of the best Dopplebocks I’ve had in a while. I realized this was a great beer when half was gone in just a few moments. dmac (842), Toms River, New Jersey, USA Aug 18, 2008 16 oz bottle purchased at Spirits RB. Mostly sweet aroma with notes of raisin, dark fruit, slightly sugary and a touch of smoke in the background. The sweetnes translates into the flavor nicely with lots of dark fruit showing up from the malts, molassess and some black liquorice. Very solid beer that was a pleasant suprise. charlotte (1177), Vanløse, Denmark Aug 14, 2008 Dark brownish colour with medium.Aroma is nutty and heavy malty.Rosted mouthfeels and sweet after taste nice type of brew.
