I get some of this spicy wheatiness in the flavor too - except that it is pretty thin and watered down. It’s OK for me. notalush (2692), Denver, Colorado, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Nov 11, 2007 I’ve finally rated all the styles (I don’t count low alcohol and malt liquor) - hugely effervescent, clear golden beer, with a gigantic, frothy, bright white head that continues to grow even after the pour - the beer looks so lively that it just begs you to drink it - strong banana aroma, with strong wheat malt earthiness and subtle hints of orange and spices (clove is dominant, of course) - the carbonation is not as prickly as I expected - very light bodied beer - light honey sweetness and very faint wheat character - a hint of phenolics way in the back - very light clove spice and faint flower flavors - not much going on here - it’s a shame, it start ed out so well, then I had to go and taste the stuff. | 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Nov 5, 2007 (bottle) Clear, pale golden colour with a huge and quite dense foamy white head. Slightly dusty and sweet wheat-malty aroma with a touch of nutmeg and shy fruity notes. Light-sweet, slightly acidic flavour, light to medium bodied with a lively carbonation. Good wheat-character, light fruity taste; dry-ish, slightly sweet and sour finish. Pretty refreshing and clean, but also without ups and downs. I prefer the Hefe-Weizen. It pours a light sparkling yellow with a foamy bright white head. Now I am already a wheat beer fan so it didnt take much to impress me. It has all the aroma of a wheat beer and the typical sweet malt, hops and herb flavor delivered in a light and drinkable platform. Im huge fan. FastEddie (183), Louisville, Kentucky, USA
| 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | Oct 30, 2007 I like to think that there are good representatives of every style... and therefore every style is legitimate. The idea of filtered Hefeweizen sounded self-defeating to me, but I decided to give it a shot... and if anyone could do it right it would be Weihenstephan. It’s a clear yellow-golden liquid with pure white huge head on it, which takes a while to diminish. It tastes more like a watery pilsener to me than a weissbier. I really have to say that my worst fears were right. destroye7 (304), Melbourne, Australia

Clove and banana aromas and flavors. Crisp -- I miss the full flavor of the wheat. Still very good. bonbright7 (174), Bellport, New York, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Oct 15, 2007 I quietly wished I had gotten a keg of this for my last party as it was very tasty in my pint glass this evening. It would have paired well with the Pils and offered a nice contrast to the rich Southern banquet we staged before Lil’ Cliff came on for 3 stellar sets. It looked like a weiss with its lacing and brilliant gold color. The first taste was lightly carbonated with the usual bananas and vanilla, but the taste ended with a snap of hops! This would be a great beer for Thai and Sushi too.
