Commercial Description:
A good beer takes time. The long lager time makes our pale beer a matter of mild, flavourful beer enjoyment. Brewed in accordance with a centuries-old beer tradition on Weihenstephan Hill.

500 mL. Pours a clear, pale yellow with a thin white head that dissipates to a thin layer. Aroma is of lemon zest, pilsner malt, fresh grass, and straw. Taste is similar to a macro pale lager but better balanced with the noble hops. Lots of mouth coating and ends with a dry, cardboard, acidic finish. A good lager.

12oz. Bottle: Aroma of noble hops, light lemon, vegetables, and herbs. Poured gold in color with a small white head that diminished slowly. Clear. Sparkling. Flavor is lightly sweet and lightly bitter. Tastes of noble hops, light lemon, slight citrus, vegetables, and slight grass. Light to medium body. Tingly then dry texture. Average to lively carbonation. Lightly bitter, hop and lemon finish is dry.

33cl bottle. Clear gold with a moderate head. The aroma hit me as a bit light-struck initially, but that soon cleared, showing a marked spicy hop aroma, with underlying honey sweetness. The flavor is fat, malty body, with perfect balancing hop spice. Simple, yet perfectly balanced. Light-medium bodied with medium carbonation. One of the best of the style that I’ve had, though I’m seldom in the mood for it. (3.5)

rerate: malts are a bit empty. Varying degrees of staleness. Still good hop balance. A bit papery. I would kill to have this on tap in Freising; I just don’t think old sixers at bevmo are doing it justice.

clear golden in color with a medium well retaining head. Aroma of some noble hops, as well as bready pils malt. Taste is bready pils malt, dry, with some noble hop flavor and bitterness. Sweetness is very slight, body is light and easy drinking. Nice helles.

Bottle. Pours a crystal clear yellow with a 3 finger rocky snow white head and spotty lacing. Nose is grassy hops and sweet malt. Taste is more grass, malt, wheat and some light hops with a pilsner-esque finish. Medium mouth feel. Decent sessionable beer.

Poured into a seidel. Typical pale gold color with a nice crest of white foam that leaves chunks of lacing everywhere. Aromas of Munich and pils malt, with only the slightest hoppy lemon twinge. Flavors of lightly toasted bread, honey sweetness, soft tart lemon, a touch of grass, and a fleetingly metallic finish. Mouthfeel is standard Weihenstephaner perfection. Soft and crisp with no wateriness regardless of the light body. An excellent example of the style.

50cl bottle from Willow Bend Liquors (Tampa, FL). Pours a generally crystal clear yellow color with a massive white foamy head that settles slowly and laces the glass. Aroma is slightly malty with stronger wheat, grass, hay and yeast notes. Flavor is grainy with notes of straw and yeast with slight fruity flavors and a very mild bitterness toward finish. Light bodied.

poured a clear yellow hue with a frothy white head that had some lace. Aroma was somewhat skunky but had a grassy and grain like note. Flavor also had some skunk to it, but overall it had delicate malt notes and floral hops. Easy to drink.
