Clear gold color. Light grassy aroma. Sweet tinge that fades nicely, but doesn’t fade as well when the beer warms up. Tastes really grassy as well when the beer gets warmer, and not in a good way.

Drinkable. not too sweet like some Helles are, easy drinking, grassy notes, but nothing is too strong, drinkable, enjoyable.

This beer is definitely too light for me. Although it’s a decent lighter beer, I prefer their hefe weissbier to the original. Way more flavor and texture.

Clear pale gold with a medium sized head that hung around a while. Has a nice malty aroma with a little bit of bubble gum and lemon sherbet. Well balanced flavour that seems a little boring, probably because of the mild body behind it, but seem to help it go down quite easily - very clean and pure. While not one to scream and shout about, it grew on me the more I drank and would be a nice light lager for those warm summer days.

Bottle: Crystal clear yellow with fine carbonation. Mildly hoppy with a hint of citrus and a dry crisp finish. Yeasty/malty aroma does not come across in the flavor. Very drinkable but not exceptional.

very light yellow with a lot of carbonation. very light flavor with an almost macro aftertaste. i would call this a bad lager in a blind taste test.

Appearance: The clarity is spectacular. It pours a pale golden color and showcase tremendous carbonation activity. The lacing is spotty and ideal. Smell: This beer has the essence of freshness. What does that mean? I’m not exactly sure how to explain the super fresh cut grain aroma and the sweet malt only added to it. There in a nice light floral hop aroma as well. Taste: Everything about this beer is simple and clean. It is not big and complex in the American style. It is classically simple and tasty making it incredibly sessionable. This must be one of the most thirst quenching lagers I’ve tasted. It is built with a solid malt backbone and sprinkled lightly with a floral hop character. It is as simple as that. The aftertaste lingers on and on with a nice clean dry feel. Mouthfeel: crisp light and very easy this beer is exceptionally crisp and clean with a lip smacking dryness and a tingly finish. Drinkability: If you are looking something complex to analyze this is the wrong choice. If you are looking for a case of a quaffable authentic German Lager to serve at your next cook out this summer there would be few better choices than Weihenstephaner Original. Hope this is helpful. Cheers!

Thanks to Mike Maltbie for this... Appears a hazy, pale gold with a small white head that quickly fades out into a small bubbly collar. Tiny speckles of lace are left around the glass. Smell is of yeasty bread, light caramel, tofee, and candied corn. Taste is of the same aromas with a gentle hoppy citrus. Mouthfeel is light bodied, mildly sweet and like candy with a crisp bite.
