Light hops in the taste with just a little malt sweetness. Kinda earthy. Finish is tastless and lacking. MullMan (1083), Bloomfield, New Jersey, USA
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 2/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 13/20 | May 8, 2005 "original premium" bottle foamed out like a geyser onto the dinner table, so there was a big drama of taking the table leaves apart to get the hinges cleaned up. in a glass it poured pale yellow and bright hued, tall foamy white head. aroma was faint honey, a little artificial. sour grain aroma too. flavor was slightly sweet, slightly grassy. mild yet astringent finish. biz82 (1328), austin, Texas, USA
| 2.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 2/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | May 6, 2005 Pours with a slight haze which is not good for a german lager. No head. Slightly sour, malty aroma. The malt flavor that comes through is very good and even though it dominates, the supporting tartness and astringency are what you are left with. Surprisingly unbalanced for a Helles from the "Oldest Brewery In The World." Tejas (701), Dallas, Texas, USA
| 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 2/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | May 5, 2005 Label says "original premium". I don’t guess it matters too much since I won’t be drinking this one again. It’s drinkable but not good enough for another. Oh yeah, I forgot the description. How about thin, weak and grassy? Smells musty too. DocLock (4648), Lower Pottsgrove, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 2/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 13/20 | May 2, 2005 Pours light canary with medium white head. Aroma of hopcit, slight astringent sour mash, dusty yeast esters. Tastes malty, with hops and a crisp finish. Nothing great here in complexity or balance, but a good lawnmower beer. | 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Apr 27, 2005 Yeah, see this is what you need. Good pale colour with expanding head. Nice malty breadiness on the nose and a similar mouthfeel. It fills the palate and then allows a subtle hit of firm hop and malt character to come through. This is a great brewery. highlandlad (1261), Sydney, Australia
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Apr 22, 2005 Beautifully balanced Helles from the world’s oldest brewery. Poured a pale gold colour with a rocky 1cm head that quickly receded but laced well. The zesty aroma showed lemons, piney hops, buttery malt and a hint of dough. Medium bodied. Very malty initially but with grassy hops and peachy fruitiness coming through in the middle. Restrained bitterness. Very fresh in the nose and on the tongue. Superb session drinking.

| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 4/5 | 3/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Apr 8, 2005 Bright yellow color on the pour with a white head. Lots of carbonation with light dough like aroma. A pretty simple brew not much hop smell or taste. It has a little more body to it than an American Pilsner and a little more taste too. It finishes a little dry and doesn’t outdo itself with taste either.
