Commercial Description:
The name tells the story: our dark beer is brewed according to a tradition handed down from generation to generation. An aromatic beer with a malty character. An archetypal Bavarian beer.

Copper/ruby pour with a lovely, albeit rapidly diminishing, head. Grainy and toasted nutty malts present in the aroma as well as some euro hops. Amazingly similar to the pilsner (apart from the darker malts). Same thing with the flavours - it has the same grainy malt and cardboard notes, but whereas these are quite dominant in the pilsner, they are hidden is this beer by the darker malts. Only complaint I have with the mouthfeel is that it’s on the watery side.

Bottle 500ml. Very enjoyable. Aroma is malty, butterscotch. Looks are ok, clear brown colour with a head that doesn’t last. Flavour is sweet throughout, with some bitterness at the end. Duration is above average. Medium body and dry.

Bottle, bought @ Ambrosetti, Berlin.
Pours a nice, clear, dark golden with a fine, creamy, off-white head. Aroma is sweet, light roasted, apples, rye bread. Light carbonation, fine mouthfeel. Flavour is quite sweet, light chocolate, roasted malts and rye bread. Fine dry finish. Good, but still rather sweet.

Bottled 50cl. Pumpernickel, figs and raisins in both nose and taste. Sweet. Very low bitterness. Decent. Not fan of the style.

Bottle: Chestnut-amber coloured with ruby spots, small to mid-sized beige head; shy - relatively dry - malty nose mixed with caramalt and a very subtle fruitiness; light to moderate bitter-sweet flavour, light to medium bodied, soft MF; lingering dryish malty finish with a tinge of bitter chocolate. Inoffensive, but decent and pleasant..........
