Second half of a day trip that started at Kloster Andechs. After the walk from the train station through the town and then up the hill to the campus Biergarten, this was more than welcome. Deep red color, almost brown, with a tan head. I’ve got to admit that I was not delicate with this beer. No swirling, no wafting. I chugged. And it was good. Smooth, chocolatey, some roastiness. Wiping off my chin with my shirt cuff....Ahhhhh..... mazfln (84), Florianópolis, Brazil, Brazil

Mild malty aroma, a little bit sweet. Taste is strong malt, a little roastness, and bitter-sweet. Resiny mouthfeel. There’s a little acidity in the aftertaste that makes it very refreshing.
A well balanced dunkel.
Very good! So bad it is expensive here in Brazil... :(
Re-rating: it is a wonderful beer. I’m loving it more and more... joanabarbosa (47), Goiânia, Brazil

Malts and fruit in aroma, some notes of port-wine. Sweet malty flavour with some notes one normally finds in aged trappist ales, i’m not sure how to describe it though. Very nice balance, lasting finish. Good beer. Tranquillity (1167), Espoo, Finland

Taste of butter and cloves, very satisfying. Untunately the finish sort of stops in the middle. Nicko (191), Ashfield, Australia

| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jul 18, 2006 Bottled. Dark reddish brown color, decent head. Sweet aroma of munchener malt with hints of caramel, nuts, licorice and pine. The taste dryer, but still malty and caramelly. Some resinous aroma and flavor like in the real ales hopped with East Kent Goldings. Some bitterness and mild roasted tone in the finish.
