Commercial Description:
The name tells the story: our dark beer is brewed according to a tradition handed down from generation to generation. An aromatic beer with a malty character. An archetypal Bavarian beer.

Bottled: Tried this at the local Octoberfest. Remember this as being a pretty decent malty beer with an enticing aroma, unfortunately my detailed notes on it are rendered unreadable due to spillage- thanks guys- other than the scoring.

Clear dark brown with a small and transient head. The aroma is all blackcurrants and rye. Ribena and pumpernickel!! I managed to also find some nuts and sweet malt after tasting. A little bit on the sweet side, it has a pleasant lingering finish that left me satisfied.

Deep brown, medium tan head. Toffee aroma. Terrific palate of roasted malt, definite nutty traits, very dry posterboard finish. Very nice.

(Bottle 50 cl) Dark brown beer with an orange-red tone and a small, discreet head. Very pronounced roasted and almost caramel character which is well balanced by a good, dry bitterness. Very nice Dunkel. 260504

14 Feb 2005 (Rerated 10 Apr 2006)- Burnt fruit light sweet malt hop aroma. Dark brown-ruby colour, gooda head and suds lacing. Slight smokiness and sweet malt and hop flavour. Easy drinking but a bit thin and a tangy smokey bitterness.

Dark red beer with a great off white head. Strong dark malt aroma with no obvious hops. Very roasted malt flvour and relatively sweet. Chocolate and caramel notes. Not like any beer style brewed here in Australia. Nice palate with a moderate bitter lingering finish.

Good quaffing dunkel. Poured a plummy brown colour with a moderate, retreating head. Aroma smells like bed-time in England: strong tea and hot chocolate. Palate is medium-bodied. Sweetish middle with caramel notes, some resiny hops and an appetisingly bitter finish.

Pours dark brownred with a disappearing off-white head. Mostly sweet rather heavy rye and malt aroma with spicy notes. Sweet flavor as well, notes of malt and grass with hints of spices and coffee. Little watery mouthfull. An all right dunkel!
