Commercial Description:
The name tells the story: our dark beer is brewed according to a tradition handed down from generation to generation. An aromatic beer with a malty character. An archetypal Bavarian beer.

Bottle at the Rover, Göteborg, Sweden. Deep copper with a medium off-white head. Caramelly malt aroma with notes of burnt sigar and earthy hops. Ligth to medium body. Well balanced with a dry finish.

Pours a clear, iced-tea hue with a medium, foamy, white head. The aroma is bizarrely similar to iced tea as well. Sugary, a little toffee, very bready and grainy. Slim, earthy hops. Flavour is quite similar to the aroma; starts lightly sweet and grows drier with each sip due to moderate astringency. Medium-light body; watery texture; fizzy, annoying carbonation. Grainy, astringent, watery...not the best effort I’ve had from this brewery.

A strong caramel aroma upon opening, good carbonation level which faded to slight lacing on the glass. Deep copper-red colour. Probably a slightly higher alcohol level than I expected, but clean on the palate. Body a little thin. This one was quite disappointing, I was expecting something bigger and better from the "älteste Brauerei der Welt."
