So typical of the pasteurised bottled bitters that lack the character and freshness of cask ale and might as well be a non alcoholic malt drink. It’s drinkable, but what’s the point?

| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Dec 26, 2009 Pours light brown with a red hue and a thin off-white head. Mild fruit and toffee aroma. Taste is medium sweetness, medium-thin bodied, medium-thin carbonation. Low hop bitter/floral nature. Pretty much as expected- thin, overpriced and a little bland. PWheatley (47), , Quebec, Canada
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Dec 19, 2009 50cl bottle. Pours a very nice copper-amber colour, and a robust, herbal hoppiness that underscores an earthy malt palate, and long finish. Overall this is an excellent bitter. AKSalmon (10), Germany

Smell of dried fruit and malt.
Mild and sweet taste, nice body.
Flavour contains sweetish notes of fruit and roasted malt.
Bitter(sweet) finish, which remains very pleasntly and long on the tongue. MexiFinn (44), Las Vegas, Nevada, USA

| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Nov 20, 2009 THOUGHTS: This might have been slightly skunked, but just slightly. Maybe not. Very British and very nice. A great, easy drinking ale.
TECHNICAL: Bottle. Poured a clear, dark amber with nice carbonation and a small to average, off-white head that slowly diminished and left good to excellent lacing. The aroma was moderate cookie, grain, caramel and cake; Light to moderate floral, herbal and grassy hops; tea, light fruitiness and light vegetable. The initial flavor was sweet, acidic and lightly bitter; while the finish was sweet and rather sour with an average duration. There was caramel, dark bread, herbal hops, cookie, a little fruit and floral hops. The medium body was oily with fizzy carbonation and lightly astringent finish. | 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Nov 12, 2009 Bottle. Clear brown with a thin white head. Very sweet nose rising up form this one. Some plums, toffee and a bit of coffee when you dig deep. Malty sweetness in the taste, some bittering hops dry and generally unpleasant mouthfeel. It’s okay but I wasn’t pleased with this one.
