500 ml bottle from some liquor store in Indiana that I can’t remember at the moment (August 2008), consumed a little below cellar temp from a Weihenstephan weizen glass. Pours a proper massive off-white head that at first fills 90% if the glass, but quickly the hazy golden liquid starts peeking out, and the top of the head starts to slowly fade, leaving fine spots of lace....nose is rather sweet and light, caramelized bananas and little spice, though pleasant enough; some cookie dough/graham cracker notes as well..... the body is soft and doughy, not unpleasant at all, but pretty lacking in the tartness and crispness that I want in a hefe, with carbonation really low and an almost syrupy quality evident even when the beer is fairly cold....drinkable, but unquestionably one of the weaker German examples of the style I’ve tasted.

Bottle. A fruity smell, bananas, light yeasty. The white head is creamy and medium large, the body is orange. The taste is rather sour with a medium duration. The body is light to medium, light creamy and watery with a normal carbonation.

bottle - Pours light amber with a creamy off-white head. A lambic-like sourness hits the nose right away giving way to an apply-grapefruity aroma with very little malt. The taste is practically bready, apricot nectar. Not one of the better weizen.........

Bottle, by Brauerei Bischofshof. It pours a hazy orange-golden body under a big, off-white head leaving lacings. Banana, some cloves, a little citrus, wheat and a hint of hops in the aroma. It’s quite effervescent, medium-bodied and semi-dry, with a quite citrusy flavor to combat bananaish fruity sweetness. A bit low on cloves and bitterness. Wheat too. The bitterness comes stronger towards the end. Maybe a bit too sourish, but a quite nice one. 091004

Cloudy golden yellow coloured body with an orange and copper tint and a perfectly dense two centimetre tall pitch white head that lasts and lasts. Aroma of fresh wheat, strong yeast, bread, corn, pine nuts and a touch more of bread. Light to medium-bodied; Strong wheatie flavour that shows a lot of pleasant mild flavours, some yeast, some citrus, coriander seed and even perhaps a sliver of herbs. Aftertaste shows a good deal of mild, wheatie flavours that go well in the summertime heat, while some yeast and more potent flavours show off as well. Overall, a pretty nice beer - perhaps a bit weak and bready in the smell and up front, but the lingering flavours are nice. I enjoyed this, some other wheats are nicer, but this isn’t a bad choice for a warm summer day! I sampled this 50 cL bottle purchased from German Gourmet in Falls Church, Virginia on 09-May-2009, sampled at home in Washington on 21-September-2009.

500 ml bottle. Hazy golden body with a big, foamy white head. Aroma is wheat, yeast and lots of banana. Flavor is refreshing, a bit sweet and banana. A classic weissbier.
