The scent is strong and balanced with sweet fruit, dark roasts, chocolate, and oat. A dark amber-brown with off-white head, long-lasting. A slight banana and sweet yeast flavor coupled with a taste that follows the nose: fruits, roasts, and slight chocolate. Complex and delicious, superbly drinkable, and also cheap. Great beer.

Pours ruby with a mostly receding tan head. Taste of caramelized wort, dark bread, toffee, malty fruits from the caramel. Full bodied with moderate carbonation. An excellent doppelbock that’s not unlike liquid bread.

Simply excellent! Dark prune-like pour with nice caramello head. Lots of sugar, roasted malts, licorice, cream, some coffee, and dark over-ripe fruits. Thickened with heavy malts leaves it chewy and delicious!.

Pours dark brown with tan head. Aromas of brown sugar and sweet malt. Flavor is caramel, brown sugar, coffee, roasted malts and slight hops in the finish. Medium to full body with minimal carbonation and a creamy mouthfeel. Very smooth and delicious. I would have this again.

I tried this beer on March 12, 2008 after purchasing from one of the local LCBO outlets. The beer poured a very dark translucent (when held against the light) reddish brown. The head was tan-coloured. The mouthfeel was medium bodied and medium carbonation. The aroma and the flavour were both grainy malt in all it’s glory. Almost a chewy maltiness.

Pours a beautiful near-black amber with a thin pale tan head with good retention. Aroma is delicious red apples abd sweet granola. What flavour, though... wow. Wonderful sweet yeast breadiness... I’m really digging that. I’m having a tough time describing the flavours... I can imagine a nuttiness, overripe to rotten fruit (I’m talking brown, mushy peach) and maple-baked beans. Am I crazy? In short, rich dark and velvety. Body is slightly undercarbonated but oh so creamy and delicious. What a tasty, tasty beer. Thank you Robinvboyer for the trade!!!

Dark ruby colour, medium malt aroma, head retention low, this was a very nice beer just lacked a bit of depth in overall taste. Did enjoy the sweet aftertaste which complimented a Partags "Presidente" cigar. I would drink this again but would not be one that I would purposely seek out.

pours a extremely dark ruby red with decent head that lingers around edge of glass. Malty sweetness on nose reflected in taste. Perhaps a bit too sweet but not too bad. average carbonation Not overly complex beer but I enjaoy it. would buy more to have on hand when want a very drinkable sweet dark beer.
