Dark and opaque ruby brown with a medium foamy beige head that leaves a lot of lacing. Aroma is sweet malt, dark fruits, burnt toffee (tire brûlée) and some herbal notes. Flavor is burnt toffee, roasted malt, yeast, herbal hops and dark fruits. Light carbonation with a medium body.

Bottle - dark ruby red colour with a large eggshell frothy head. Very pleasing on the eye. Rusty malt aroma. A lovely malt and nut flavour, somewhat sour too and has quite a sticky mouthfeel, chocolate and malt in the finish. Very nice indeed.

0.5l bottle. Pours an opaque brown with no head. Very dark. Aroma is quite strong and smells of malt and hops mostly, like molasses too. Palate is smooth. Flavour is very very very malty. Varies from being overly malty to quite complex, with hints of caramel, toffee and nuts. Very strong.

500 ml bottle from LCBO, served at cellar temperature in a tulip glass.

App.: Clear, deep mahogany with a moderate tan head. Aroma: Cola-like herbals, woody, deep burnt sugar, a bit earthy, some dates/prunes and molasses, rye bread crust. Palate: Medium body, fairly soft carbonation, a bit syrupy. Flav.: Lots of dark rye bread crust, some molasses/toffee/burnt sugar, a bit of dark dried fruit, a bit of wood, much like the nose; finishes a bit off-dry with a little bitterness.

Tasty and certainly to style. Doesn’t blow me away.

Pours a dark brownish-amber-red color with a thick tan head. Aroma of dried fruits (raisins, dates, a hint of apple), some brown sugar, molasses. This beer really had a LOT of intense flavors... rich sugary roasted malts, raisins, candied fruits, a very slight hint of hops. Mouthfeel was soft and silky, a tiny bit sticky. Overall pretty great stuff, a nice surprise to find this beer.

Sweet dark caramel aroma. Very dark amber color with a beige/tan ring. Medium body with very light and creamy carbonation. Flavor is more burnt than roasted caramel with accompanying dark fruits. There seems to be hop at the finish, so it is not so sticky sweet as it seemed to start. Flavors are fairly complex, and it is a decent tasty brew.

Bottle. Rich wonderful malt aroma. Deep ruby with beige head. Very malty, balanced and complex flavor with brown sugar, coffee, cocoa and a bit of dried fruit. Awesome soft, full mouthfeel. Would be great if it wasn’t so sweet.

Picked up at LCBO, 500ml for $3.15 Faint burnt caramel aroma. Dark brown with a nice big tan foamy head. Such a full bodied creamy taste, sweet roasted malty caramel. So inconsistent, when it’s on, it’s the best, but too often it isn’t. Very frustrating to rate.
