Dark brown with a big beige, rather quickly-diminishing, head. Aroma with lots of malt, notes of roastiness, some bread, caramel and maybe a bit of licorice. Malty, dark bready flavor, with caramel and hints of chocolate. Medium to full body with a soft velvety mouthfeel. Lovely! matt7215 (956), Cambridge, Ontario, Canada

Dark & sweet malts dominate the flavour, sticky-like finish. An above-average Doppelbock. VeloVampire (488), Parkdale, Toronto, Ontario, Canada
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Mar 21, 2008 500 ml bottle - pours a dark chestnut hue with slight reddishness at the edges and a thick, creamy two-finger head that laces the glass elegantly. Fresh dark rye bread aroma, along with lots of sweet malt, molasses. Very full-bodied and rich, lots of complexity - dark rye, bready yeastiness, some very slight fruitiness, hazelnut, capped off with a bitter finish. Not my favourite style of beer, but I can appreciate the quality here. janir (215), Oulu, Finland
