faroeviking (6024), Republica Vikingo de las, Faroe Islands Mar 10, 2007 Bottle. Nice dark brown colour with a medium fairly lasting off-white head. Sweet malty caramellic aroma. Flavour of well toasted malt, caramel, bit fruity, slight chocolate. Sweetish toasty finish. Nice brew. harrisoni (6703), Ashford, Kent, England Mar 10, 2007 500ml bottle from Trafalgar Wines, Brighton. Very deep red/brown with thick lasting deep beige head. Slightly sickly malt/alcohol aroma. Some toastiness, some fruit. Entertaining in mouth. Quite rich, but nicely balanced with tingly hop and carbonation. Even a touch of coffee. Red berry fruit. Bit of sweet strawberry. Nicely suppable. Bit sweet maybe, but balanced by crisp finish. NicerInPerson (337), North of Raleigh, North Carolina, USA Mar 6, 2007 The aroma was malty with a strong, strong caramel presence. Dark caramel led the charge coupled with some alcohol and dark fruits. The dark fruits were raisins and prunes with a light bit of molasses. The beer poured crystal clear black with a ruby highlight and a tannish head which laced the glass. The flavor was molasses and dark caramel with raisins and prunes. This one seemed to be a bit on a downward slide with a smidge of winey character beginning to build. Also present was a bit of chocolate. The body was medium with a moderate carbonation and a creamy character on the palate. The finish was dry with lasting caramel and chocolate into the aftertaste. A nice dopplebock, but a bit long in the tooth. 1pt 9 oz bottle. jonno (542), Brisbane, Australia Mar 2, 2007 Updated: Oct 26, 2007Deep and satisfying. It has a lovely floral head, that belies it deep malty nature as it slides down the back of the tongue JohnnyJ (1283), Carlsbad, California, USA Feb 28, 2007 Pours a dark reddish brown with nice tan head. Aroma of nutty malt, wood, and a little coffee. Flavors of sweet malt, nuts, wood, licorice, and a hint of fruit. eyesandsmiles (179), Mission Viejo, California, USA Feb 25, 2007 Dark amber. A thick consistency thats eminently palatable. heavily malted with faint hints of coffee. a great boppelbock. DarkStar22769 (100), Ontario, Canada Feb 16, 2007 A bottle from last year’s release to the LCBO; aroma is woody and heavy with some coffee-ish hints, definitely carrying the sweetness of the malt. The appearance, poured into stem glass, was an opaque brown-black with a decent creamy head. Flavour-wise, the alcohol is well hidden. Instead, one is taken with hints of licorice, apple, and coffee. It’s a good doppelbock, for sure. FrankJohansen (3329), Sabro, Denmark Feb 12, 2007 Bottle. Clear brownish colour with a huge mostly lasting creamy off white head. Rich aroma and taste of malts, fruits and brown sugar. NIce palate.
