Great aftertaste with long lasting flavor. Great with a thick steak and scalloped potatoes. Not a beer I would drink every day. Only because I drink beers like this with special meals. The pour was hazy deep brownish ruby with a 2-finger khaki head. The aroma was malty, with cacao, some Wheaties, brown sugar, and almonds. Flavors were very malty, cereally, with a lot of grape nuttyness, almonds, some brown sugar, and cacao. Good complexity and balance. Illini08 (528), Raleigh, North Carolina, USA

Just read what Duane said, as my experience with this beer was the same. It smelled amazing, but the taste didnt quite match up to the great aroma. Overall though, a very good beer! barleyPops (1079), Quad-Cities, Illinois, USA

great looking pour to this one. dark brown with a ruby edge and a decent size khaki head. aroma was outstanding of sweet caramel, plums, raisin, hints of dark chocolate and coffee, my anticipation is high. medium to almost full bodied the flavors were more of the sweet caramel, plums, etc., and while good there was just a little strange bitterness that did not match the aroma profile. still a very good doppel and one I hope to have again. | 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | May 11, 2006 Bottle: Pellucid tawny cherry brown color, thin head and light lacing. Nose of sweet malty goodness, fig, plum, fruit. The flavor is chewy, sweet, balanced, very nice doppel. On the likes of Celebrator but with a denser body and less sweetness. Tangy alcohol, good. Jesus, almost a millenium to perfect and it’s still not that great. Well, it is awesome, but not perfect or world class. spporras (260), Finland
