Chestnut brown color with an off-white head. Aroma of raisins, caramel, and molasses. Chocolate, dark fruit, molasses, and some bourbon on the taste buds. Velvety texture. Lacing clings to the side of the glass. This is a great beer.

Bottle at German restraunt- This is very true to the style. Excellent dark and creamy appearance. Not a heavy as I had expected. Very tasty and smooth. I highly recomend!

Bottle - Mahogany pour with a creamy tan head. The smell is a sweet malt bomb, with caramel, bread, and light bourbon. Oh man...I could smell this all day. Taste is mostly the same--big, sweet, and malty, with just that touch of bourbon. There’s a little coffee and a bit a heat on the finish, along with some nice bittering hops. It’s creamy and smooth, just like I’d expect. Beautiful.

500ml bottle thanks to and shared with funkybrewster. Pours a very dark, almost clear, red with a thick creamy light tan froth with some lacing, settlings into lovely super fine bubbles. Aroma is super fruity, like a fruit-snack/gummy-bear, rich grainy malts, lots of malt flour, very light chocolate, touch of grass 6.5. Mmmmm the flavor is wunderbar, endlessly malty, loads of grainy malt flour, some faint bitterness that adds dimension, bitter chocolate and malt flour, like drinking rye bread, fantastic 8.5. Flavor brings huge nostalgia of when my grandfather used to make me chocolate malts as a kid. It isn’t rich but perfectly sweet. Long lingering chalky bitterness. No hint of any alcohol, well just enough to warm the flavor. The body is near perfect for flavor and style, avoids being syrupy or sticky like so many sugar doppelbock messes, smooth ubiquitous super fine carbonation 4.5. Love it.

Shared with 17thfloor. Pours a a deep ruby brown with a nice billowing tan head. Aroma is your nice nutty malt and caramel sweetness. Only a little disappointing in its lack of punch. Hints of dark fruits and nicely toasty bread. Flavor starts with a very rich toffee and sweet malts. Gains a very nice fruity edge that gives it a superb balance to the nutty and woody character. Finishes with a very rich and fulfilling character. Just tasted some walnut or almond fresh nut lingering. Really nice all around flavor from start to finish. Medium to full body and a rich carbonation. Almost to the level of Celebrator, lacking in aroma but a damn good flavor. Very tasty beer.

bottle into a glass-FIRST DRINK-Nice nutty flavor, deep brown in color and a nice head. very drinkable. LAST DRINK-I’ll admit i am not a huge fan of german beers, but this is a definite exception. A very well made beer, head still present to the end.

Sampled at a recently attended lager seminar and poured to stemware a dark brown with some amber tones showing through when held up to the light. The head was a bubbly tan foam which left some spotty lacing. The aroma was thick toasty malt, with caramel, molasses, and brown sugar notes. The flavor was the aroma notes plus a nice, creamy mouthfeel and full body. Impressive.

Bottle. Pours a very dark ruby colour, almost black, with a big tan head. Spicy, fruity nose with coffee, molasses and raisins present. Taste is fairly similar but not too much sweetness. The coffee stands out reminding me of a few of my favourite porters. A full bodied beer that isn’t overpowering but very easy to drink.
