blankboy (3162), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Aug 8, 2005 Bottle. Pours a dark ruby-brown with a huge frothy light-brown head. Looks great! Aroma of caramel malt, vanilla, light hops, sugar and chocolate. The flavour is sweet, roasty and quiet tasty! Some chocolate, coffee, caramel, vanilla, hops, and more. It gets even better as it warms slighlty. This beer is a very pleasant surprise and one I intend to get again for sure. OlivierMTL (712), Montréal, Quebec, Canada Jun 27, 2005 Couleur brune foncée, reflets rouges, mousse beige pleinement diminuante, aucun dégagement gazeux actif lors du service. Emil (6075), Copenhagen, Denmark Jun 16, 2005 Bottle. Dark brown colour with a big baige head. Sweet metallic roasted malty aroma and a sweet chocolate malty taste. Medium to full body and a sweet finish. A bit to sweet. richlikebeer (823), Easton, Pennsylvania, USA Jun 6, 2005 bottle courtesy of radiomgb, pours a deep dark brown with a stiff creamy tand head that floated for a good couple of minutes. nice sweet aroma, roasted chocolate, a bit of licorice. coffee brings up the tail end of the flavor, which otherwise matches the aroma, sweet malts, chocolate and licorice, maybe a little brown sugar as well. body is a little thin, especially when you consider how dark the beer is. flavor is a little unbalanced as well, there is a grassy hop character throughout that isnt blended that well. very tasty, but just a tad off. jbrus (4835), Delft, Netherlands Jun 5, 2005 Bottled. Strong coffee and chocolat aroma. Dark brown color, light brown head, fair lace. Light sweet, chocolat, light roasted, coffee in the finish, short fruity moment, sugary ending, not very full bodied. wxman (582), O’Fallon, Illinois, USA Jun 4, 2005 Updated: Sep 12, 2007Roasted malts and caramel in the nose. Very dark brown color with an off tan head that stays. Rich and creamy roast malt flavor along with some hop bitterness and notes of toffee, coffee and butter. At nearly 7% ABV, it’s surprising that there is no hint of alcohol. This stuff is good! DerWeg (748), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Jun 2, 2005 Updated: Nov 27, 2006Big huge honeyed-toasty-malty richness with adventurous notes of hay and barnyard, a sublimely excellent treat from Bavaria. JensenTaster (1585), Denmark May 17, 2005 (on bottle - superthnx Yogi)I dunno; here we have a, to me, perfect doppelbock. And then, what can you say? It´s ust topdollar in all aspects. Dark brown, with a very small, lasting white head. The fattests chocoltae sent I ever had, along with chestnuts, malts and mustardcured ham, rich like a motherf#.Nice burned notes and a nasty good taste of a perfect roasted mix of malts; like drinking a liquid evening infront of the fire, with a good dinner in the stomak and night of filosophy and dancing ahead.
