Light sweet, chocolat, light roasted, coffee in the finish, short fruity moment, sugary ending, not very full bodied. wxman (585), O’Fallon, Illinois, USA

Very dark brown color with an off tan head that stays. Rich and creamy roast malt flavor along with some hop bitterness and notes of toffee, coffee and butter. At nearly 7% ABV, it’s surprising that there is no hint of alcohol. This stuff is good! DerWeg (756), Toronto, Ontario, Canada

And then, what can you say? It´s ust topdollar in all aspects. Dark brown, with a very small, lasting white head. The fattests chocoltae sent I ever had, along with chestnuts, malts and mustardcured ham, rich like a motherf#.Nice burned notes and a nasty good taste of a perfect roasted mix of malts; like drinking a liquid evening infront of the fire, with a good dinner in the stomak and night of filosophy and dancing ahead. bombshelter (349), Washington, Washington DC, USA

| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Apr 26, 2005 Updated: May 17, 2005A sublime German doppelbock. Poured an effervescent teak colour with ruby highlights and a 2cm tan head. Moderate head retention and some lacing. Rich vinous aroma with toffee notes, molasses, cinammon buns and some gingery alcohol. Oddly, the bottle stank of wet nappy, so I stayed the hell away from that. Thick, creamy body - in fact, I can’t think of a creamier beer. Beautifully rounded. God this is smooth. Highly malt-driven - the dominant flavours are molasses, creamy milk chocolate with a shot of sherry-like alcohol in the finish. I haven’t tasted a better doppelbock. (500ml bottle, Camperdown Cellars, best before 4/11/04 - doh!) StewardofGondor (1934), Washington Heights - Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA
| 4.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 19/20 | Apr 25, 2005 Hell yes. Nice, thick, dark doppelbock. Humongous tan mass of a head. Aroma is of caramel and chocolate malts, apple cinnamon muffins. Sweet. Flavor is complex - rich and creamy. Chocolate and caramel play a leading role. Toasted pecans. Nutty, with a cedar-like aspect. Persistent head and medium viscosity make it a palate’s paradise. Malts, glorious malts. A delicious doppelbock done right. This might be the epitome of German doppelbocks.
