oh6gdx (8795), Vasa, Finland Mar 26, 2005 Bottled. Black opaque colour, brown foamish head. Very stoutish nose, sweet malt and hints of barley. Sweet roasted malty taste with hints of bread. Breadish and a bit roasted aftertaste. A bit sticky mouthfeel. Goldorak (439), Montreal, Quebec, Canada Mar 22, 2005 Bloodlike, burgandy dark red, with only a cola-like fizz on top. Nice color, dissapointing head, but hey, it’s a lager.
Roasted grain, and caramel nose.
Taste: Caramel, toffee, with a little faint chocolate bitterness. Low carbonation and somewhat chewy. Decent body. footbalm (1218), Salt Lake City, Utah, USA Mar 19, 2005 Thanks to rastacouere. This is a dark mohagany brew, little or no head at all.Nose is nice and malty with almost a toffee and "hidden" fruiiness.Malty at first thenbefore it gets to sweet it becomes a little roasted affair. It is a little thin but a nice brew. maeib (4677), Wootton, Northampton, Northamptonshire, England Mar 19, 2005 Bottled. A black coloured beer with a purple/red hue and the tiniest of dusty heads. The aroma has plummy fruits, licquorice, roastiness and vinuous alcohol. The taste is initially sweet and jammy then the smokiness, alcohol and a touch of aniseed come through. A very tasty top quality beer. ChillCoat (1029), Concord, California, USA Mar 17, 2005 Bottled. Deep brown color with a reddish hue. Tan head. Chocolate and coffee aromas. Flavors of dark chocolate, toffee and plums. Port wine aftertaste that lingers just a bit. Very drinkable. wnhay (722), Princeton, New Jersey, USA Mar 5, 2005 Updated: Apr 15, 2005 Pours dark brown with very good carbonation which stays throughout. The looks is almost champagne like but obviously a lot darker. The nose consists of chocolate, chocolate raisin, malts, toffee and caramel. The taste has toffee and caramel with abundance. There is less of a wine mouthfeel and more of a Rollos candy mouthfeel with this. I dig the wine feel a little bit more, but this is still a wonderful beer that I will enjoy many times. Really impressive and priced very well too. iambeer (255), Ontario, Canada Mar 3, 2005 Updated: Jul 24, 2005 From tap, hints of caramel, moderatley malty.
A dark hue. Complicated, but beautiful. A wonderful treat for any beer drinker. snowtiger (106), Brighton, Colorado, USA Feb 23, 2005 Deep ruby/brown color with big bubble tan head. Aroma is of malt, raisins, and dark fruits. Big upfront malt flavor with biscuity finish. Doesn’t finish too sweet though. Dark and chewy.
