DanielBrown (1919), Birmingham (via Leicester), West Midlands, England Jan 6, 2005 Bottle from Beers Of Europe. Dark brown, with a small cream head. Nice strong, sweet, malt flavour, with rye bread and some salt. Burnt sugar finish which is nice also. Easy drinking, but weighty in the flavour dept, which is a good combo. OKBeer (1159), Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada Jan 4, 2005 500 ml bottle courtesy of Radek. Dark ruby colour with a mostly lasting fizzy tan coloured head. Malty chocolate, dark bread, caramel, and lightly roasty aroma. Smoky, caramel, fruity, light bready flavours with a fruity and lightly roasty finish. Medium to full bodied, but very smooth and easy to drink. caledonian (367), Ottawa, Ontario, Canada Jan 2, 2005 Quite dark with a red tint. Sweet malt in the aroma. Better as it warms a bit. Roasted aspect. Not bad. GonZoBeeR (2156), ste-Eulalie, Quebec, Canada Jan 2, 2005 Aroma:Malt, caramel, molasse

Is a good bock to taste. asheft (1374), Marburg, Germany Dec 26, 2004 Almost black, clear orange-red with a yellow beige icing on top. Complex aroma: meaty, salty, noble hops, a little roasty. Flavour was smoky and sweet with a barleywine malt spiciness and an obvious alcohol flavour. A moderate amount of bitterness and roastiness. Full bodied and warming. I enjoyed this beer, but it was after a full meal and this drink is a meal in itself! IPFreely (1470), Lewiston, New York, USA Dec 26, 2004 6.9% bottle. Incredibly dark ruby color, darker tan head. Earthy amd sweet malts dominate, some what nutty, a little roast, some chocolate, and some fruit pokes around. Medium to fuller bodied, nice and mellow, but still coats the mouth. A very nice doppelbock, certainly a treat for malt lovers. Boutip (2334), Gatineau, Quebec, Canada Dec 17, 2004 Bottle: Poured a dark brown color beer with a brownish head with average retention. Aroma is dominated by roasted malts and lack the usual doppelbock banana feel. Taste is a bit deceiving with again the roasted side taking a lot of place and lacking the more sweet/banana and chocolate/coca feels in this beer. A bit disappointed and not even nears the greatness of the Ayinger. mutant (854), Melbourne, Australia Dec 14, 2004 Deep brown with a red tinge not much head. Very sweet, malty and slightly vinuous aroma. Really malty flavour (duh), but also nicely roasted ie. not too much. Not really bitter but has a nice finish with a tongue coating texture. This really is my kind of beer.
