Aroma of peanuts and molasses with a strong smell of dog food dominant. Clear brown, with a firm thick tan head. Extra full body. Very sweet flavor of roasted barley and molasses. Grassy bark finish. Weird off flavor of some sort of chemical that comes and goes. I don’t understand why this is rated as highly as it is, but then again, I’m not crazy about bocks.

A nice caramel malty brew with a semi-sweet palate and a hint of tart and spice in the finish. The colour is deep ruby and quite dark. Enjoyable.

Much too sweet, malty and citrusy for my taste. As a dark bock it truly fits the mold. Extra strong and powerful brew with a robust finish. The caramel aroma is potent. Alcohol is definelty well hidden. Lots of complex esters working overtime and an excellent winter brew. Too bad I am drinking it in the 90 degree heat!

500 ml bottle in Germany. Weltenburger has been making beer for nearly 1000 years and it shows. Fine dark brown color, smokey aroma, smooth deep malty flavor that lingers. One of the best bock beers of the world. Goes down too easy and will catch up with you if you have many of them. The % is hidden well in the flavor. I don’t give out 4’s often but here is one.

500 ml bottle from LCBO. Pours a dark slightly reddish brownwith small beige head. Nice aroma of caramel, chocolate and bread. Flavour is sweet malty with caramel and chocolate giving way to a modest hoppy bitterness. Medium to full body. Quite nice.

0.5 l bottle from Alko. Mahagony color with creamy head. Malty, toffeish and nutty aroma with licorice. Sweetish malty flavor with dark bread, toffee, nuts, licorice. Full bodied. Rich malty and bready bock.

Will this be taken as blasphemy? For some it may..but i would say the last 10 German dopples i’ve had have been weak and some have been a little metallicy- but this one was super tastey. Dark brownish black but somewhat translucent colour with a big tan head. Biscuity malt notes, caramel, toast and a hint of nutmeg flavour. Taste reminds me of a charleston chew. Aroma is malty and rich and very pleasent.

500 ml. bottle. Pours a thick short lived mocha head, with slight lacing over a clear dark reddish brown (SRM 20) body....nose of roasted and caramel malts with toffee and molasses dominating, some raisin and cherry too....tastes of medium sweet malts with toffee, bit of molasses, dried fruits, including cherry withslight bitterinig towards the finish...mouth feel is thick and creamy, a lovely luscious brew.
