Smells of rich plum, sweet fruit and malt. Feels warm and thick in the mouth. Tastes of dark berries and fruits with brown sugar and toast overtones. Caramel too, and a tiny hint of chocolate. Very nice, the first doppelbock I’ve had and certainly not the last. Perfect as a winter warmer, the flavours blend beautifully together to create a rich, taste centric malty beer that can only be pleasing. csbosox (1079), Prairie Village, Kansas, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Jan 31, 2009 500ml bottle. The aroma is malty, bready and toasty with dark fruits (figs/dates). The mouthfeel is killer. Malty, bready, toasty flavor with dark fruits and a floral finish. This is a beer for people that appreciate a well done, malt-centric beer. patrick767 (2019), fort wayne, Indiana, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jan 28, 2009 bottle - Pours deep amber with a thin tan, fading head. The aroma is rich caramel malt with some dark fruit accents. The dark fruit notes come through nicely in the sweet flavor. It’s medium bodied. There’s just a touch of bitterness in a mostly malt finish that includes some noticeable but gentle alcohol presence. As one might expect, there are definite similarities to their Barock Dunkel, which I drank yesterday, but the doppelbock version is of course bigger and more flavorful, especially in how much better the fruit notes come through. Very tasty. f351c4v (404), Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jan 25, 2009 Pours a dark brown color with a quickly disappearing tan head. Sweet aroma, lots of caramel and bready. Again, sweet caramel dominates the body, bready, tasty. Even with all that sweetness, definitely easy to drink. Top notch. trevor211 (504), Seattle, Washington, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jan 25, 2009 Pours like a cola. Transparent reddish brown, with a fizzy head that’s thick, but dissipates fairly quickly. Gets much better from there, though. Brown sugar and dark fruits are predominant in the aroma and the flavor. It’s a bit sweet, but stays dry - very tasty, and very easy to drink. carruthm (1123), Seattle, Washington, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Jan 24, 2009 Somewhat sweet for a bock, still a very good tasting with the aforementioned sugars and a touch of porter coffee smokiness. Feinschmecker (183), Seattle, Washington, USA

Reddish brown color with light tan head. Aroma is filled with caramel and sweetness. A bitterness comes over the tongue, followed by the fruity-like sweetness and again the caramel or even molasses and a touch of smokiness. Ein fantastisches Doppelbockbier. madquacker (712), Canberra ACT, Australia
