Dark brown colour, off-white head. Good malty, almondy aroma, almost spicy. Not so thick in body at 6,9. Good, spicy flavour profile with almonds, caramel, grass and bit of chocolate. Chcolate comes strong in the long finish. Another favourite along with Augustiner and Andechs. ratman197 (3270), Arvada, Colorado, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jun 5, 2006 500 ml bottle poured a clear reddish brown with a diminishing amber head. Aromas of prunes, dark malt, a bit of molasses and a hint of honey. Palate was medium bodied and smooth. Flavors of dark bread, a hint of dark fruit and honey with a smooth dry finish. The nose is much better than the flavor which is pretty one dimensional. blankboy (3261), Toronto, Ontario, Canada
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Aug 8, 2005 Bottle. Pours a dark ruby-brown with a huge frothy light-brown head. Looks great! Aroma of caramel malt, vanilla, light hops, sugar and chocolate. The flavour is sweet, roasty and quiet tasty! Some chocolate, coffee, caramel, vanilla, hops, and more. It gets even better as it warms slighlty. This beer is a very pleasant surprise and one I intend to get again for sure. BeerandBlues2 (3237), Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA

Dark chocolate and cocoa, dark roasted caramel malt (cookie) and yeast (sweat, barn) aromas. Dark semi-sweet caramel and chocolate malt, nutty medium roasted malt flavor with a touch of hops. Medium bodied and creamy to fizzy, lightly dry palate. KnutAlbert (3217), Oslo, Norway
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Aug 30, 2006 Bottled. Rocky head. Splendid dark brown color. Fine sweetness, with caramel and malt dominating. No strong hoppy presence, but it turns out well balanced anyway. Eyedrinkale (3209), Astoria, New York, USA
| 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 19/20 | Jul 30, 2006 Rick brown color with a lighter colored brown, big bubbled head. Aroma is mostly burnt caramel and chocolate. Taste is smokey with a richer amount of caramel than the aroma. This is one fucking great beer. I like that there’s not a sickeningly sweet amount of sugar in this. The mouthfeel and body are just perfect. Nice dryness and an almost charcoal taste, like ashed paper instead of a charcoal fire. Maybe burnt marshmallows and chocolate. Gimme s’more!
