Pours a deep tan colour topped by a strong off-white, almost brownish, head slowly diminishing. Lots of bubbles. Robust and sweet malty aroma. Medium bodied. Dark malty flavour with fine notes of cocoa and chocolate, and with a welcoming bitter end. I will soon visit Vinmonopolet in Norway to buy a few more bottles. DougShoemaker (2856), Toronto, Canada

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 5/5 | 14/20 | Jul 9, 2008 500. Pours nearly black with a towering, sudsy tan head. Decent lace on the way down. Big bready and cookie-dough-ish nose. Chocolate, biscuit, and nuts there as well. Very pastry-like. Thin, watery body; very little carb. Sweet cookies, chocolate, brown bread, and biscuit and nuts all coming back around for the mid-palate. It’s so understated as to almost go right by you without making much of an impression, but it’s beautifully done and to be commended. Not sure how often I could drink this...I definitely prefer a bit more amplification in my beers, usually. Ibrew2or3 (2833), Safety Harbor, Florida, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Oct 23, 2008 Pours clear yet dark amber with infra red edges and firm wavy frothy nearly creamy tan head. Great looking brew. I can get a sense of the aroma from three feet away. Upon closer inspection I get a pleasing combination of roasted malts, some graininess and sweet caramel candy to go along with a light amount of estery sting. Good gravy, the taste is luscious. I get rich roasty malts mingling first with a moderate level of dark fruity esters and then creamy caramel. Wow. By midway I’m detecting a bit of chocolate malts, biscuit malts and mild nuttiness. This is bold yet smooth. Just delicious. beerinmarch (2829), Washington, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Aug 22, 2004 Pours a very dark red with a tan head that leaves good lacing. A sweet caramel malt aroma tops this tasty bock off. A slight metalic taste left behind near the end which kinda pissed me off a bit, but otherwise this was one hell of a good bock. austinpowers (2828), New York, New York, USA

Sweet, earthy aroma with caramel and chocolate notes as well as some dark fruit. Sweet roasted (or even burnt) caramel flavours with nuts and raisins. Medium-bodied (expected a fuller body for all this taste), overall nice mouthfeel. DuffMan (2782), the land of bitumen, beef & beer, Alberta, Canada
