Deep brown color with crazy, thick, dense, beige head of tight foam. Immediate sheeting lace. Waiting and waiting for the head to dissipate so that I can taste the stuff, I enjoy deep nutty aromas, roasted hazelnut, milk duds, creme brulee, light coffee, and mild smokiness. Finally. Creamy texture is coating and lightly bitter to finish. Flavors are rich, lush, nutty, malty, and lightly sweet. More light coffee, then caramel, nutella, and molasses cookie. Ah, this is a nice beer. whaleman (2171), North Wales, Pennsylvania, USA

Beautiful looking deep brown with a thick mocha head. This is the kind of beer that you can’t wait to drink it. Smooth and creamy malt backbone with caramel and molasses flavors from fore to finish. One dimensional, but when that one dimension is so good it works well. EithCubes (2146), Indiana, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Jul 7, 2006 Bottle. Extremely dark ruby beer with a creamy, rocky, lacy light brown head. Smells of sweet malt, caramel, brown sugar; even has an aromatic hop presence. Taste is sweetly malty with lots of dark ntoes and even some roasted. Brown sugar, dust, toffee, molasses, chocolate, caramel, toastmalt, touch of spiciness ... but really, the story here is the massive amount of malt. Full-bodied, alcohol is well-hidden, slightly terminal warming but not too much. Slightly sticky, but really only on the lips. Medium-dry hoppy finish. Have to force myself to slow down whilst drinking. Superb!
