Picked up at Maruhn Getränke in Darmstadt. Pours a nice dark brown. Aroma of malt, nuts, hops. Tastes malty, with some hops and roasty hints.

It never ceases to amaze me how the smell of good, richly done malting can arouse the senses and be so absolutely pleasurable. So with this beer. The taste ain’t bad either.

Draft at Fatheads in Pittsburgh. Pours a deep reddish brown with a tan head. Aroma is malty with notes of maple, cherry, and raisen. Medium bodied and not overly carbonated. There is lots of complexity, and different flavors come out with every sip- like raisen, dark bread, chocolate, peat, and caramel. There is a nice amount of residual sweetness to tie everything together. The is a moderate amount of european hop bitterness right at the very end. This is a very nice beer. I would gladly drink this again.

Bottled: Intensive malty nose, sweet, light soy and fish sauce hints. Very dark brown color with off-white head. Flavor is intensiv malt with intensive smoky and bitter chocolate notes. Some caramel and fruity notes. Dry, roasty bitterness in the end. Pleasant good night drink.

Beautiful deep ruby colour. Pleasant sweetish blackcurrant aroma. Very smooth mouthfeel. Blackcurrant (again) and licorice flavour. Warming finish. Could I have another one, please!

Thanks to Doug for the bottle. Malty chocolate nose - slightly dusty. Creamy malt , tingly cocoa, very restrained dark fruits. Finish is superb - cocoa, dusty malt. Its almost like chewing on Crystal Malt.. That is the flavor I’m getting. Yum!

Bottle from DougShoemaker. Deep chestnut color. Decent off-white head. Goood lacing. Sweet molasses aroma. Medium bodied. Fruity and sweet flavors. Slight hop bitterness. Good.
