| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Jul 26, 2009 Really suprised to see such high marks for this beer. I really didn’t think it was all that, and I could think of a dozen or more dopplebocks that I enjoyed more but are lower rated.
The beer pours out a beautiful mahogany brown color, creamy 2" thick light tan head. The body looks almost purple if you stare at it long enough. Aroma is toasted bread, sour malts, molasses a bit of roasted pepper. Flavor has some light molasses notes, and a mineral water like taste...reminds me of sour/tart malts...hard to describe. Some burnt toast also peeks it’s head out. Honestly, it gets a score a bit higher than it should because it looks beautiful in the glass. The aroma and flavor just aren’t all that. wetherel (1627), Encinitas, California, USA

Pours with little head, no bubbles when swirling, except a little whisp in the center of the glass. the liquid is a deep rich amber color. The aroma is a familiar malty, butterscotch in a pleasant way. The flavor has some sweetness, but a tad on the the dry side for me, and finishes with a little sour roasted grain bitterness. jason (1623), Easton, Pennsylvania, USA

| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Oct 12, 2008 50cl bottle from Beverage Castle (Tampa, FL). Pours a clear dark brown-reddish color with a thick and foamy tan head that settles quickly but still laces the glass. Aroma is sweet malt, milk chocolate, banana, some hints of honey, caramel and malted milk. Flavor is pretty much the same -- lots of sweet malt, chocolate, maybe some hints of toffee, caramel and ripe fruit. Generally medium body with a sweet and slightly hoppy finish. douglas88 (1604), Salt Lake City, Utah, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jul 3, 2008 Updated: Jul 7, 2008Bottle thanks to Eric. Pours a ruby body with a medium beige head. The aroma is full of sweet fruits, malt, and some candy. The taste exhibits many qualities of a good bock; caramel and molasses sweetness, dark fruity flavors, a touch of alcohol warmth, a smooth easy mouthfeel, and a light bitter finish. Very good. Sweet, but not too sweet. JensenTaster (1585), Denmark

And then, what can you say? It´s ust topdollar in all aspects. Dark brown, with a very small, lasting white head. The fattests chocoltae sent I ever had, along with chestnuts, malts and mustardcured ham, rich like a motherf#.Nice burned notes and a nasty good taste of a perfect roasted mix of malts; like drinking a liquid evening infront of the fire, with a good dinner in the stomak and night of filosophy and dancing ahead.
