This one gets bonus points due to my memory of first having it in a tiny restaurant on the edge of a forest in Bavaria. Chef kept trotting out of the kitchen to put a glass under a tap. After having one of these his wife, the hostess sold me a couple for the road. Perhaps not the absolute tatstiest of dopples, it does the trick nicely.

Sampled at Peoria International Beer Festival. Dark ruby red in color, nice head. Very full, sweet & tart aroma. One of my favorite doppelbocks yet.

Bottle - dark ruby red colour with a large eggshell frothy head. Very pleasing on the eye. Rusty malt aroma. A lovely malt and nut flavour, somewhat sour too and has quite a sticky mouthfeel, chocolate and malt in the finish. Very nice indeed.

Rich dark brown, thick 3 finger head, strong black malt aroma. Velvety sweet taste, not very complex, but satisfying. Toasted cereal with some light roasted coffee. Solid.

Brown body with a red shine, huge beige head; Very soft pleasant DB nose, malt, grain and caramel; Very soft (not velvety) body, perfect amount of carbonation and a very slight bitterness; Quite long finish, soft with lots of malt and caramel.
