Rich dark brown, thick 3 finger head, strong black malt aroma. Velvety sweet taste, not very complex, but satisfying. Toasted cereal with some light roasted coffee. Solid.

Deep brown appearance with a small, tan, fast fading head leaving a tiny amount of lacing. Intense dark fruit aroma with hints of molassas, brown bread, nuts and raisins Taste was sweet malt, brown sugar, raisins, plums, and dark berries. Full-bodied, moderately carbonated mouthfeel. Finished like a dessert wine.

Pure deep ruby color and crystal clear to boot. Dark fruit, and rye bread (spicy) aroma. Good body, with a sweet finish. Strong anise note that is piercing and distracting from the good that is going on here. Quite good, but a full step below great.

Pours a deep deep ruby amber brown with gorgeous fluffy mid beige medium lasting head. Full caramel malt with hint of smokey whiskeyish aroma. Medium fullish butterscotch like body. Luscious caramel toffee even vinous and malt flavours. Nice bitter touch in the finish settling back to a big malty sweet aftertaste. Big flavour and big on character - definitely memorable. It has to be my favourite Doppelbock so far. Overall not a bad choice for for my 800th rating.

Deeply reddish brown under a fluffy tan froth. Rich dark bread and rum-raisin aroma, sweet and thick with malt. Succulent melanoidins and cocoa nibs open for tight biscuits and a veil of sherry; buttery cocoa aftertaste. Oily, nicely attenuated, background carbonation.

Chewy flavours wickedly combined with a quaffable body.

50 cl bottle, best before 4 December 2008.

Bottle, tulip glass. Average sized, creamy, light brown head sits on a deep brown body. Caramel, cookie, molasses, chocolate malt (H); prune, date, brown sugar, vanilla aromas. Moderately sweet flavor becomes a moderately sweet, lightly bitter finish. Medium body, watery texture, soft carbonation. The bottom line is: the body is a bit thin and there’s not as much chocolate in the flavor as I was hoping for.

Rich dark brown color, small brown head. Aroma is toffee and chocolate and sweet. Flavor is mostly sweet, but there are hints of Noble hops. Balanced for Doppelbock, but definitely slanted toward the malty side as a doppelbock should be. Creamy mouthfeel. Sweet finish with hints of bitterness.
