Malt, caramel, sirup, chocolate, ice-coffee, with all the candy flavors in there it still manages balance. Full bodied and deliscious. My kind of doppelbock. mephisto (1144), Taiwan

Pours a gloomy crimson black body and a towering tan head. The beer is nearly room temperature at this point…. The aroma and flavor are heavy with molasses, dates, raisins, and plums… dark pitted fruits rolled through molasses and peppered with spicy tobacco shavings. Suggestions of chocolate covered cherries, kilned malts, the bready smokiness of baked pumpernickel, toffee, brown sugar, coffee with sweetened cream…. A delectable treat fit for a brisk Autumn’s evening… and although the leaves are turning, it still feels like summer here in Florida... Garrat (1132), Suffolk, England

Aromas of sweet malts, plum, cooked sugar, wet stones, and a whiff of smoke. Strong toffee-like malt flavors in the mouth, along with notes of black licorice, mild chocolate, bread dough, and flint. In spite of all of the malt focus, the sweetness is kept right in check by the mineral-like acidity. Very well balanced for someone like me who prefers their beers on the dryer side. I really should have placed a bet!!! Poured into a large chalice, a short two-layered dense beige head formed atop a deep, dark ruby red body. Head lasted and left gluggy webs of lace down the glass. Strong, almost concentrated, malty and fruity nose with rich chocolate, plums, light vinous notes and a little liquorice. So thick and treacly in the mouth, very light in carbonation and made more intense by the strong concentrated flavours. Prunes, raisins and sultanas, toffee and toasted malt, and a dry vinous back that blends into a roasted malt swallow that lingers between each slow sip. Quite sweet without becoming cloying, it had a lot of fruit in the mouth once it warmed a little and really belied its almost modest alcohol level. Very strong flavoured, quite smooth and exciting to taste, this was an excellent late night sipping beer. A definitive ’in-your-face’ Doppel Bock that I will certainly taste again. gam (1112), brisbane, Australia
