Chocolate aroma. Nice dark malt flavours, some fruitiness, pleasant roasted malts, cocoa, a bit bittersweet. Lighter in body than I expected and also alcohol stays well hidden. A smooth doppelbock. | 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Sep 14, 2006 Wow, there is the hugest nutty and malty aroma with this fucker. Mega dark brown color but ruby in the light. Flavor is very full and rich. Big nuts and dark fruit. a lingering aftertaste of smoke and chocolate. Body is somewhat limp. A surprisingly good beer, especially for a style I tend to avoid. Not really something I’d drink with any frequency though. But one of the best of the style. good for desserts. armando629 (997), Budapest, Hungary
