Bottled. Dark brown in colour, almost black. Minor beige head. The aroma contains burnt malt with hints of smoke. The flavour is sweet and ou can taste malt and smoke. A smoky and alty after taste.

16.9oz bottle BBD 06.01.05 Black, tan head died in the glass, no lace. Big malt nose, slightly musty, medium bodied, smooth, somewhat oily feel, Robust maltiness, creamy, hop spice detected in finish, though certainly not bitter. Fairly chewy malty beer, enjoyable, big but in a one-dimensional largeness...Sweetness begins to overwhelm me as it warms, carmel comes to the fore. Ends up too sweet and flat to really turn me on, like an English barleywine w/o the hops, a bit cloying. I guess that commercial description pretty much says it all.

Brown with a light brown head. Aroma is malts and earth. Flavour is bittersweet progressing to a strong malty sweetness.

Weltenburger Kloster Asam Bock is a very good german product. It has the typical rich malty flavour and sweetness of the winter bocks. I could only fault it on having a slightly thin body.

500ml bottle. BB 30 06 09. Deep bronze body with ruby highlights. Thick tan head sits atop, leaving a spiderweb of lace in its wake. Oxidised malt aroma, but not in a bad way. Toffee, mollasses, burnt nuts, cocoa, dried fruit, spice, over-cooked meat...if that makes sense! Richly textured body, creamy carbonation, bit of dryness toward the finish yet a sweetness still remains. The beer really opens up especially on the body. Plenty of big rich malt characters of toffee, chocolate and nut, yet nothing remotely roasty. Going further are complex notes of raisin, sultana, prune, smoke, wood, earthy spice, bread, subtle herbs. Finishes dry, with a slightly odd bitterness and lingering note of cocoa. Yum, I do love a good bock. Such a simple and easy drinking beer on the surface, yet complexities seem to form on their own accord amongst the rich malt and alcohol. Lovely.

Simply excellent! Dark prune-like pour with nice caramello head. Lots of sugar, roasted malts, licorice, cream, some coffee, and dark over-ripe fruits. Thickened with heavy malts leaves it chewy and delicious!.

Shared with 17thfloor. Pours a a deep ruby brown with a nice billowing tan head. Aroma is your nice nutty malt and caramel sweetness. Only a little disappointing in its lack of punch. Hints of dark fruits and nicely toasty bread. Flavor starts with a very rich toffee and sweet malts. Gains a very nice fruity edge that gives it a superb balance to the nutty and woody character. Finishes with a very rich and fulfilling character. Just tasted some walnut or almond fresh nut lingering. Really nice all around flavor from start to finish. Medium to full body and a rich carbonation. Almost to the level of Celebrator, lacking in aroma but a damn good flavor. Very tasty beer.

Damn this is nice. Had to have something while firing up the BBQ late the other night and this is what got grabbed - rich dark brown with a frothy tan head. Sweet toffee and molasses and dark fruits and chocolate. Sweet in the mouth but not too much - coats the tongue with light carbonation and brings you back for another sip. Smooth sweet finish. Nice.
