The aroma has plummy fruits, licquorice, roastiness and vinuous alcohol. The taste is initially sweet and jammy then the smokiness, alcohol and a touch of aniseed come through. A very tasty top quality beer. DarkElf (2681), La Jolla, California, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Mar 8, 2004 The label describes this beer as a dunkle dopplebock; The rich "dunkle" maltiness is clearly evident, delightfully tasty, and less sweet than many other dopplebocks which results in a more genuine maltiness; Mild bitterness helps balance the beer in the finish; The higher alcohol content is masked very well; Like the flavor, the nose is malt driven; Very pretty beer to look at; Deep mahogany color; Large light tan head is creamy on top, but bubbly underneath, and only leaves a modest amount of lacing on the glass FROTHINGSLOSH (2038), GREENSBURG, Pennsylvania, USA

This beer had a vegetal element but one that reminded me more of a tasty V8 that I found to be rather pleasant. Sampled from a 16.9 oz brown bottle this beer poured a dark brown color with ruby highlights and a large brown head. The aroma was sour and tangy molasses with a v8 element underneath. The mouthfeel was smooth and creamy. The flavor was rich and savor dark malts and molasses. There is again a V8 undertone. The finish is marvelously long. Very nice! | 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Dec 11, 2004 I haven’t liked a bock this much before! Pours a dark body, almost black in colour. Aroma is malty, nutty with some roasted sugar. Taste is huge roasted, nutty and malt characters, with sweet hints, and just the right amount of biterness. Alcohol not really noticable. A really balanced example of the style! JensenTaster (1588), Denmark

And then, what can you say? It´s ust topdollar in all aspects. Dark brown, with a very small, lasting white head. The fattests chocoltae sent I ever had, along with chestnuts, malts and mustardcured ham, rich like a motherf#.Nice burned notes and a nasty good taste of a perfect roasted mix of malts; like drinking a liquid evening infront of the fire, with a good dinner in the stomak and night of filosophy and dancing ahead. Malty and fruity aroma with some roasted notes. The malt is also present in the flavor with some caramel sweetness that remains in mouth. Little carbonation but that fizzles on the tip of the tounge. Nice smooth finish.
