Rich malty aroma. Chocolate and raisins, molasses and brown sugar. Herbal-like essences infused in caramelized sugars. Mild floral hops. I love the memories from doppelbock smells. Dark brown-black clear, with foamy off-white (almost tan) lacing head. Heavy watery body with medium carbonation. Starts with great molasses worty goodness. Sweet in all the right places with brown sugar and caramelized flavors. Mild herbal essences and candied oranges. Finish is pretty clean with some balancing dryness. Not bitter at all. Sweet nutty after with just a hint of smokiness.

Wow, I can't believe the score I gave this one in my tasting notes. Must've been good! Reddish hued with a mild raspberry aroma, very smooth roast malt flavour, dry yet full palate lingers just enough for you to really anticipate that next sip. Fine stuff.

Without a doubt, the best beer I’ve ever tasted. I’ve had racks and racks of this godly nectar and it always delivers. Enjoy warm, ice cold, alone or with a good meal. You will smack your lips for a 1/2 hour after being blessed with this flavorful, dark liquid.

Deep ruby/crimson brown. Thin foam, light brown head. Heath bar nose, chocolate covered toffee. This is very nice. Raisons, chewy delicious malt, dark caramel, chocolate, woody, cola, firm textured body, finishing with a subtle hop presence. A very delicious doppel, one of the best i've had to date.

This brew pours with a deep red-brown body topped by a thick off-white head with lots of lacing left hugging the glass. The aroma is sweet, fruity (apples, pears) and malty with a slight caramel note. The flavor is slightly sweet and malty with some bitterness, a strong caramel and nut note and a touch of fruit. The finish is slightly sweet and nutty. Medium bodied with a nice smoothness.

Very deep mahogany color with a small off white head. Sweet malt/molasses aroma. Starts with more sweet molasses flavor. Dark fruits and then roasted chocolate flavors. Slight bitter chocolate finish. Great beer from an historic brewery.

Bottle, from the Dodgy Deli on Cowley Road in Oxford. Beautiful brown pour, big, soft layer of light caramel foam. Sturdy, rustic bread aroma, clean and inviting. More dark bread flavor, with a lovely milk chocolate undercurrent that continues to build through the glass. Soft, full-leaning palate, just enough carbonation to keep it bright. Deeply satisfying in it’s simplicity. A final note: what’s with the bloke on the label?

500ml bottle. The aroma is malty, bready and toasty with dark fruits (figs/dates). The mouthfeel is killer. Malty, bready, toasty flavor with dark fruits and a floral finish. This is a beer for people that appreciate a well done, malt-centric beer.
