Starts with more sweet molasses flavor. Dark fruits and then roasted chocolate flavors. Slight bitter chocolate finish. Great beer from an historic brewery. | 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 16/20 | Sep 25, 2007 Bottle, from the Dodgy Deli on Cowley Road in Oxford. Beautiful brown pour, big, soft layer of light caramel foam. Sturdy, rustic bread aroma, clean and inviting. More dark bread flavor, with a lovely milk chocolate undercurrent that continues to build through the glass. Soft, full-leaning palate, just enough carbonation to keep it bright. Deeply satisfying in it’s simplicity.

The mouthfeel is killer. Malty, bready, toasty flavor with dark fruits and a floral finish. This is a beer for people that appreciate a well done, malt-centric beer. Lots of sugar, roasted malts, licorice, cream, some coffee, and dark over-ripe fruits. Thickened with heavy malts leaves it chewy and delicious!. MoritzF (4954), Bochum, Germany

Dark brown colour with almost fizzy beige head. Roasted malts aroma with toffee and dark chocolate. A very fine dolce smoked maltiness, very smooth, almost silky with a long mocha-like dry & bitter aftertaste. This one is far away from being too sweet or alcoholic. Perfectly balanced for my kind of taste. A rather slim and that´s why perfect Doppelbock for me. The name is referring to the Bavarian architect and painter Cosmas Damian Asam (1686-1739), a master of the Rococco (late Baroque style). OlivierMTL (711), Montréal, Quebec, Canada
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jun 27, 2005 Couleur brune foncée, reflets rouges, mousse beige pleinement diminuante, aucun dégagement gazeux actif lors du service. DuffMan (2763), the land of bitumen, beef & beer, Alberta, Canada
