| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Apr 19, 2008 Pours a beautiful near-black amber with a thin pale tan head with good retention. Aroma is delicious red apples abd sweet granola. What flavour, though... wow. Wonderful sweet yeast breadiness... I’m really digging that. I’m having a tough time describing the flavours... I can imagine a nuttiness, overripe to rotten fruit (I’m talking brown, mushy peach) and maple-baked beans. Am I crazy? In short, rich dark and velvety. Body is slightly undercarbonated but oh so creamy and delicious. What a tasty, tasty beer. Thank you Robinvboyer for the trade!!! Muggus69 (566), Sydney, Australia

Deep bronze body with ruby highlights. Thick tan head sits atop, leaving a spiderweb of lace in its wake.
Oxidised malt aroma, but not in a bad way. Toffee, mollasses, burnt nuts, cocoa, dried fruit, spice, over-cooked meat...if that makes sense!
Richly textured body, creamy carbonation, bit of dryness toward the finish yet a sweetness still remains.
The beer really opens up especially on the body. Plenty of big rich malt characters of toffee, chocolate and nut, yet nothing remotely roasty. Going further are complex notes of raisin, sultana, prune, smoke, wood, earthy spice, bread, subtle herbs. Finishes dry, with a slightly odd bitterness and lingering note of cocoa.
Yum, I do love a good bock. Such a simple and easy drinking beer on the surface, yet complexities seem to form on their own accord amongst the rich malt and alcohol. Lovely. DSG (1515), Tel Aviv, Israel

Dark brown with a big beige, rather quickly-diminishing, head. Aroma with lots of malt, notes of roastiness, some bread, caramel and maybe a bit of licorice. Malty, dark bready flavor, with caramel and hints of chocolate. Medium to full body with a soft velvety mouthfeel. Lovely! mannika (103), Toronto, Ontario, Canada
