Aroma is nice combination of chocolate maltiness and lagered aroma. Flavor is nice: chocolate, roasted nuts, raisins, and toffee. Palate is overly thin especially relative to Celebrator. Nice beer. daboskabouter (1470), Fergus, Ontario, Canada

Aroma is reminiscent of Salvator with the sweet malt and the wet hay. Only the sweet malt is more caramelly than it is sweet. Touches of smoke as well. Body is of licorice and a thick, bittersweet malt. Finishes with a nice complimenting hop bitterness. A fairly nice, complex doppelbock, only a touch too sweet. Appearance: Dark brown with ruby light trough, medium large brownish (quiet creamy) head.4- Nose : Sweet brown malts showing up first , cocoa milk chocolate is next , nutty caramel molasses finishing.7+ Flavor/Palate : Solid nutty , woody bark like feel laid on malty blanket. Nutty , roasty character is quiet apparent. Texture it self if medium-full with chewy tendencies. Baltic porter like but with out extensive roastiness with dark side of imperial stout. Alcohol shown only as bottom filler. Solid brew form Kalheim.

Chalky, slightly chocolate malt aroma. Malty, chalky, chocolatey, edgy acidity, tannic, raisins. Very full bodied, perhaps a bit pasty. Finishes off sweet and grainy. Market Square Liquors. Delightful aroma with lots of sweet malts. Some raisen is evident and maybe a hint of cherries deep down. Flavor is also of malt and is rich and delicious. Sorry I only bought a single pint. It was thoroughly enjoyed. Murphy (1759), Fort Collins, Colorado, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Mar 27, 2006 Pours clear mahogany with a thin but dense white head. Light molassis, metallic aroma, still cold maybe. Taste begins with light sweetness and a mineral, earthy bitterness. Molassis for sure, really nice hops compliment this with a earthy, floral bitterness. Finish is smooth, oily, with hints of cinnamon and toasted malt. Body is straightforward, lightly viscous, slight butteriness. Quite well balanced for what it is, and much less metallic and offensve that most other bottled German offerings that make it over here. johndoughty (2167), cheslyn hay, West Midlands, England
