This is a wonderful doppelbock, that really shows off the fact that these do not have to be sickenly sweet in style. This has a nice rich, and medium bodied, flavor that is somewhat dry on the palate. Granted it is bittersweet, but not sweet to the point of irritation. Caramel maltiness, with an even amount of roastiness, somewhat earthy, but very clean, with a lingering finish of black tea and cooked grains.

Oct 5, 2008 Pour is dark brown with a light tan fizzy head. Aroma is malty with sweet butter, brown sugar, and dark fruit. Flavor is sweet roasted malt, light chocolate, biscuits, and goodness. Very smooth carbonation. I also got a bit of toffee characters throughout the brew. Very solid beer. Would buy again.

Sep 28, 2008 500 ml bottle. Deep brown color, creamy tan head. Very appealing sweet aroma with some raisins. Wickedly smooth taste with a chocolaty finish, full body. Great!

Sep 26, 2008 Splendida doppelbock di Weltenburger, uno dei prodotti di punta del birrificio; servita nel bicchiere tozzo, si lascia bere con generosità ma interessa soprattutto le papille gustative e il naso (splendido, di prugna e zucchero candito).

Sep 24, 2008 Bottle. I’ve had one of those runs of beers where I thought sod trying something new, lets go back to the old favourites, then this little belter came along. Dark brown with a hint of red with a creamy beige head. Dark fruit cake with a roasted kiss. Very nice indeed and will certainly have again.
