| 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 19/20 | Dec 8, 2009 Clear dark brown body, with some visible carbonation and a nice frothy light-brown head. Very impressive lacing and decent head retention.
Loads of malts in the nose, with bready caramel and dark chocolate notes, and a little smokiness. A touch of floral hops in the background.
The taste starts out with loads of caramel, chocolate, and even coffee notes, then going into some strong pleasant breadiness. Some pleasant smokiness develops with time. Very sweet, but appropriate for a doppelbock. Some hints of cherry and honey, together with some nuttiness. The finish is definitely bready and has some roastiness.
Medium-to-full body to it. Very smooth, with a nice sweetness and very pleasant roastiness/smokiness. Coats your mouth and leaves you particularly happy. A nice warming sensation appears after a while.
The alcohol is pretty well-masked, so it drinks very easily. As the it warms up you will feel it more, but, since the beer is just so delicious, it shouldn’t be an issue.
All in all, this might change my perspective on doppelbocks! Great beer! inbirraveritas (43), Budapest, Hungary

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Nov 27, 2009 Nice double bock. Deep brown with a small beige head. Fat malty typical german aroma with notes of bread, nuts and minerals. Flavour is very malty with complex mineral notes and light hops in the end. Quite sweet but it balances out in the end. Very smooth mouthfeel with a decent amount of carbonation. ogivlado (3080), Zagreb, Croatia

Reddish/brown coloured, medium sized tan head, malty nose with hint of chocolate. Sweet malty, chocolate and caramel with notes of grain and minimal dark fruits. Nutty finish. To be honest expected (much) better beer. jimmay (208), Waterloo, Ontario, Canada
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Nov 21, 2009 Bottle. Pours dark, dark, brown, with modest head. Aroma is faily mild for the style, but flavour makes up for it. Big roasted malt flavour, with notes nof chocolate and toast. Enjoyed it! rosenbergh (932), Helsinki, Finland

Dark reddish brown colour with big light tan head.
Roasted malty aroma with caramel, sugar, nuts, raisins, biscuit, oatmeal and hints of hops. Flavour is slightly more straight forward with roasted malt, burned sugar, alcohol, bitter hops and nuts. Excellent complex brew. I like it! heavy (852), Split, Croatia
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Nov 17, 2009 1/11 A 0.5 l bottle courtesy of Doggythedog and ogivlado, thanks for sharing! It poured reddish brown body with medium sized head. Roasted malt, sugar and biscuit aroma. Fine malty flavor, caramel, biscuit and burnt sugar with some herbal bitterness. Roasted malt occasionally ends to be pleasant. Medium bodied with longer sweetish, even slightly alcoholic finish. Fine beer, but not something extraordinary as a such classic should be. It’s easily forgettable, and also seems quite weak for a doppelbock. CanIHave4Beers (897), Des Moines, Iowa, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Nov 16, 2009 Pours a deep brown with a nice head and plenty of lace. The aroma is apply with mild chocolate notes and some grassy and hay notes are a surprise but work well in the mix. The flavor is chocolate, cider, some burnt notes, plenty of bitterness, and some raisin and plum notes. The caramel sweetness is very well under control. The mouthful is bubbly but very full. This is exceptional.
